Ok so it's not a scam... I finally made my first sale!! It's working :) Made My First Sale!

Hey guys, I just made my first sale! I got $18.80 in my Clickbank account (hope it doesn't get refunded), and I got to thank you guys for giving the info on how to do it.

I just followed lemonarians bum marketing course, and the information I found on the forum. Made my first sale with just 1 article (that I had to resubmit 2 times)

    Thanks again,

    Creepy

Congratz on the sale... hopefully more will follow if you can replicate the success and apply the same techniques then more sales should follow.

First sale with only 1 article that's cool. Congrats You will just keep making sales after that first one. I made my first sale a month ago and even if am not really having time to work on my site (because of my job), I've made 6 more sales since then.

Good Job! Keep It up! If you are promoting a good product, you probably will not get many refunds!

    Hello Creepy,

First congratulations on your very first sale! Exciting isn't it? This stuff really does work .

I would like to point out a flaw in your thought. When you say, "I hope it doesn't get refunded." This negative thought can easily hurt you in the long run (or even the short). It can cause disappointment, anger, stress, and worse - regret. Don't condemn yourself so early in the game. Don't just yet confirm the inevitable. It is not in your control, however what you are in control of is your thought. Fill it with positive energy and not negative. It might sound crazy but it is not.

Every single wealthy person on this planet - practice what I wrote above...

    Cheers my friend,
    Kevin

Good post - as attitude is important to help keep you motivated.

A positive mental attitude is a trait that every successful person has - they accept they will have some setbacks, but will always focus on long-term goals and this will see them improve and learn from any setbacks.

In affiliate marketing there will always be refunds as it is part and parcel of the game... even the best product will have refunds. The key is to figure out why people are refunding a product and to determine whether it is still bringing in a net profit for you. If the refund rate is too high and you have built up a website/landing page which gets some organic traffic, you can simply stop promoting that product and move on to another product... maybe you will get the occasional sale - but not have spent any additional time on that site.

If you think you will fail, you already have as you are not mentally focused to be successful. You can plan for success by setting up a timetable with every affiliate product you promote - maybe set a timescale of 6 months for each product to see if it converts and then do regular promotion of that product. It doesn't need to be extensive promotion every day, but some regular promotion - maybe a new article or 2 every week at least for a period of 6 months.

If after 6 months you are not making enough progress, you will have built up a site that may still gain some organic traffic and you can then concentrate on a new product or look at other ways to monetize the site (either making it into a content site with adsense etc or selling the site to raise some quicker cash).

You would be able to work on maybe 4-6 sites at a time... so you would always be doing something for one of your sites. Over 6 months, you should be able to know which sites are worthwhile promoting and which sites will not really increase your earnings. After 6months, 1yr, 1.5yrs, 2yrs etc, you will gradually have built up more sites and product lines and will have a diversified network of sites that should ensure a relatively stable income each month - allowing for seasonal variations etc.

The key is to believe you can achieve it and make it a reality.

I totally agree with what was written here. Most business owners fail simply because they have moved to quick for their market or themselves. In other words, don't just buy 50 domains and start creating websites. Your chips are too far apart! Once you have built a (meaning one) successful website or land page - you can start to diversify. Make more of what works. I've had so many people ask me, "what am I doing wrong? I have 30 domains redirecting to different hop links (products)." People think in numbers and hold true to the theory, "more is better." I do fully agree with this theory - however I know what works and time is dedicated to the quantity while NOT lacking quality. Rule of thumb to a beginning marketer, figure out what works BEFORE you begin to diversify. This will limit your head room, greatly.

    Cheers

Thanks everyone, and sorry for posting so late, I've hadn't had time to check out the forum.

And thanks for the helpful post Noxter, I sometimes find it difficult to think positive, certainly when I'm doing a bum marketing campaign and having no sales, but I'm trying to change.

Your not the only person doing bum marketing - I would say 50% of the members here are on the same road; including myself. I do however boost my income with Google's (AdWords) content network. Why pay for keywords when you can rank on the same page as them ? 10 million results isn't enough . Ha.

    Cheers,
    Kevin

OK, So basically what you are telling the noob is to start with one or (maybe) two sites and as you figure out what works... rinse and repeat.
Now while I am certain Norb would suggest you begin with NCMedia Products, I realize that some folks might not know enough about Forex, or solar power, or dating, or dancing or whatever to feel comfortable promoting one of Norbs products.
What I am asking is... How would recommend a noob go about choosing that first product? What are your primary criteria for choosing a product to promote?

The first product you choose will be something that you have a lot of knowledge in... or a lot of interest in. Basically something that you know something about and would happily just build a content site around if affiliate marketing side of things didn't take off.

My first clickbank affiliate site just happened to be the forex tracer - because I did have an interest in that topic (although I didn't have the money to actually trade on the markets). It was something that interested me and I didn't mind researching a bit more about the market to try and understand the more technical side of things.

My squidoo lenses are ranking on GOOGLE!

I would like to give thanks to.

NoXter, Ganceann, google keyword tool, keyword samuri, digg, propeller, some other web 2.0 sites and a few other techniques.

I'm only like on page 3 or 4 right now but they are there and with some further optimization and link building I should be able to hit page 2 and possibly 1 with no problem. I developed a system that is working. Woo Hoo. AJ
