Default "Fill out this survey to view content"

So I'm surfing around yesterday, and I came across a site that said "fill out one of these surveys to view content" and then access will be granted.

Now I apologize about being a no0b here, but is this just a cpa strategy? Find some content you think people will be searching for and want bad enough to fill out a survey about insurance (or whatever it is).

Seems like you'd have to have some pretty good content for people to offer personal info.

Yeah, old CPA strategy, called gatewaying or CPA-wall, etc. CPAlead is one company that offers this. Lots of others as well I'm sure, however I'm not too familiar with cpa stuff/companies

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. Find content that you that people will want, block it with a CPA gateway and get leads. You'd be surprised what people will fill out a survey for

Thanks guys, what I'm confused about is how this guy got his site ranked for something. Is it a game of pump and dump? I'm sure g00gle wouldn't be too thrilled with this.

Probably moot, since you said "old" strategy.

I am finding there is so much I have still to learn.

Content lock gateways are usually used on sites that don't give a shit about Gugles.

Ie. YouTube is being spammed to shit nowadays if you look at any movie video w free movie database sites. Enter > content lock > probably fill out every time you switch to the new episode of Family Guy or whatever.

    Yah.

That's a pretty old strategy that was discussed on many forums before...

Basically, you post a "video" to YouTube for a movie saying it was "deleted" due to YouTube's policies, but if you click the link in the description you'll be able to watch the whole movie.

And obviously when they reach your site, they have to fill out a survey to unlock the content. The only thing that always baffled was what would be a suitable thing to offer them once they've completed the surveys? You can't just stream movies on your site for free? Sooner or later someone will fucking sue you and you'll be in deep shit.

I've heard that Canadian hosting companies don't give a fuck what you host with them and no one can really touch you? But that's surely bullshit?

    I don't mean that.

    I mean this.

    http://myadtools.com/products/ytbcmnt/Youtube-Commenter

Proxies + accounts + scraped youtube vids of most popular movies coming out today + messages like "Check out sickoffshoremovies.com for ALL the movies coming out today and watch them FREE!" with an offshore setup and content lock from any content lock provider - I like BlamAds = spam time.

PS - No, you're fucked in Canada. Feds can get you here too. Netherlands/Russia is where I get my servers.

You can't be charged anything if you spend a few hundred bucks a month of a couple of offshore servers. But yes, UK is strict as well.

    So the skinny here is:

    1. I have x

    2. I give them an action that they must complete to get x

    3. I get $

So the million dollar formula is finding traffic looking for x and then satisfying...scratch that...monetizing their need for x. If search engines won't favor this type of site you go to where the traffic is (i.e. existing mailing lists or youtube, etc.)

    Is that about right?

vaydm is right. if you are going to do this, then you need a Russian server. But you need to also register the domain in russia as well. I think the folks that own the pirate bay have a russian operation that is completely anonymous. you can get domains and hosting under false names using an unverified paypal and they pretty much dont give a rat's a$$ what you do with it.

I cant remember the name of the domain registrar/hosting but if you really want it, PM me and I will find it for you.

Since i am trying to be a good boy, I dont need them.

Vadym are you actually saying give them the copyrighted content? Or just say you will make them fill out the survey?

I'm not saying anything because this is a public forum and I've already had friends get CnDs from a few Hollywood dickweeds.

But as long as the content is hosted freely [like simply finding a MegaVideo - which you an find 50 links of for any show at tv-links.eu, and content locking your page with the video that's NOT ACTUALLY HOSTED on your site, just streaming] - it's safe.

Also if you dont want to have anything to do with copyright content ( even if you are offering the embeds without hosting them it is considered copyright content ) you can offer them an afflink for cb products for watching movies or you can put in there a download button to promote graboid , or go with banners from aff buzz there are a lot of ways to deal with the tv series/movies niche ( believe me I know this shit verry well) . If you need some tips just ask

Do you usually get to watch the locked content after filling out the survey? Because I've 'fallen' for this a couple of times in the past when wanting to watch a movie and never even got to watch the fucking movie after filling out the cpa. So now I obviously will never do it again. If you want returning 'customers' that will keep filling out your new cpas then give them the fucking content you are promising them, it's the least you can do.

Lol so true. Whenever I saw content was locked, I would avoid it just because of what you said.

If you got a text that is content locked, you might want to lock some/ most of it, but show the rest just so people can get a taste and see it's really there.

You can put a small delay before your CPA content locker is shown. For example you can set it to appear after 40 seconds, this way you let the visitor to find the movie that he wants to watch and after he clicked on play and he watched 10 seconds of the video you can "hit" him with the content locker. This way the movie will still play in the background and the user will see that you have the real content and the conversion would be higher . I can explain why 90% of the CPA movie websites are not using this tactic but I'm pretty buys right now
