Just Because Ok! How many of us are full time IM

Just wondering of the IM that are here, how many do it full time?
I am doing it on a part time basis for a little extra spending money.

I am technically full-time internet marketing as I am self-employed and work from home.

I don't make a huge income yet, but I am not too much worse off than when I was unemployed and I am far better off than when I was employed (I was in telesales and it didn't matter what I done, as I had done 18 months in one callcenter, every time I went for a job interview I kept getting classed as a 'telesales worker' and offered different jobs to the ones I applied to).

Problem is I have an Northern Irish accent and employers thought it was a great accent and one that customers would love to listen to... and buy from... so they wanted me to work on the phones. For the record, I hate telesales as 99% of the time I had to lie or not reveal the full truth about things... but once you get pigeon-holed, it is very hard to break out of that mould.

In short, I went self-employed to break out of that mould. If things don't work out in the medium term and I have to go back into employment, this time I would be able to come in with relevant experience for managerial positions as I would be able to demonstrate a whole range of decision making skills that are not present in telesales (i.e. in telesales you don't make any decisions, you just go through the same routine that is dictated to you by bosses).

As I said, I am technically a full-time IM as a result as it was the only way for me to break out from the pigeon hole.

I guess you could say I'm doing it full-time as well.

I run several business ventures, but I do work from home, and IM is one of my 3 source of income [the only one that's at 0 thus far ]

I do marketing more or less full time (college is REALLY a bitch when you've got actual stuff to do :|) and only apply what I've learnt selling drugs (the good kind <_<) in real life over on the internet. So IM is more of a part-time hobby kind of thing, since I don't even really need the money...haven't spent any of my CB payments on myself so far but what I do with them is far more rewarding ^^

I sent a relative recovering from surgery last month on a looong holiday, I usually blow my income from the net on friends that need stuff or on toys and candy for kids in orphanages, my favorite charity.
Otherwise, it goes toward the tsunami relief fund, I was there when the tsunami occured, and still get nightmares of what happened...makes you grateful to have enough spare change to make a difference.

^^^^ me too, was able to do alot of stuff online last year (just building and selling websites etc.) because uni was easy in the 1st year.

Clickbank may have to take a backseat for a while if uni gets tougher this year. Or lets hope i can make a few automated campaigns up so i dont need to do anything anyway

    I feel sooooo old!

Seriously, make sure you all get your schooling in. Wouldn't be where I am today without it.

I went to Uni for 4 years and now 8 years later I earn $100000+ from the day job and a bit extra from IM (holiday money/porsche fund)

After school I'd like to get as far away from having a day job as possible... Good for you to have a good paying job, but I like the idea of working when I want to way too much to ever get near one.

And I got off in the beginning of June... as always...

Hmm, doing the math and it seems you may be a couple of years younger than me. When I went to uni, I just took the first confirmed offer and after my 2nd year, I regretted not changing to a computing related course instead of doing Econonics... as my interest in economics was only in some of it. I then took the first job I went for after finishing uni (monthly contracts which seemed to go on for a while... and that is why I went into telesales as it was a permanent job).

I have never been able to use any part of my university education for any job... until now maybe with Forex related stuff

My advice would be to make sure you choose a subject that you have a lot of interest in and don't settle for the first job when you finish uni... unless it is the one you really wanted.

I've graduated from high school this year myself, and am calling this a "year off". If affiliate marketing/my company/my trading doesn't make 100-150K a year by next September, I'm going into university.

Which feels like failure [I know, most people call it a success if they go into university]. And I really don't like failing, so I guess I'll just have to make money with my projects instead.

Gonna be a senior in high school this year. I can only put in this much time into IM during the summer.

My mom thinks I am nuts most of the time (unless I get a check at which point she asks me how much its for )

    hmmm...

I've been self-employed since 1996. Been doing IM, freelance web design, WordPress consulting, part time. Most of the time I make a full time income working 15-20 hours a week. Summer months are a little slower...
I've recently mostly given up the freelancing and consulting in favor of automated income via affiliate marketing. I've kept a handful of my A+ clients and that's it because I want more time freedom!

I am in the process of creating my own inexpensive in-demand product which I plan on releasing this fall. I also plan on getting into Forex (slowly)

btw, all of you young puppies, are much much younger than me...just to give you a hint of how old I am:

the year I was born the world's first nuclear power station opened in Obninsk, near Moscow

am not full time in IM really. Considering that I do some web design still, and that if you took all the wasted, unproductive time, I probably could do at least a couple more hours a day. And those crucial few hours could mean the difference between making the Moniez, or just being comfortable.

    ?? I dun get it.....??

I only do it part time for now because I will be starting my senior year in high school very soon, but I hope to eventually make it my full time job.

I have a few questions for you full time IM out there though. How old were you when you began full time IM? Did you start out with IM or did it replace a regular job?

And do you guys think it is realistic to make a career out of IM instead of following the normal routine of "go to college, get a job"? I'm sorry if I've come off as annoying it's just that the whole idea of IM as a full time job sounds very cool. Especially since I am seeing some pretty good results after just two months of doing this.

    Check It Out!

First of all, congrats on being young and building a bankroll, most people your age are getting shiz faced and trying to knock up milfs.

    Now, onto the seriousness.

Unless you know exactly what you want to do with your life and are going to go to school for finance, pre-law, pre-med, or engineering, DO NOT GO TO COLLEGE IF YOU LIVE IN THE USofA.

It costs too much and you MOST LIKELY will get nothing out of it besides a ginormous amount of debt on 8% juice and you will want to kill yourself.

Now, people are going to disagree with me on this I am sure. There are of course exceptions to every rule, but I hold to my convictions. The average person who is getting out of college these days is FACKED because of debt and no job prospects, or a job that will not service their debt or basic living expenses. Now, people will tell you that college will open doors, and that you must go in this day and age just to get your foot in the door.

For some jobs, this is true, but.... if you can make someone money, and by law you don't need a degree to do something, then FACK the degree.

LIKE I SAID THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS.....PLZZZ DON'T POST..WELL I AM A XYZ AND I SO MUCH BETTER OFF BECAUSE OF IT, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT

NOW ONTO THE IM FULL TIME DEAL......
YOU NEED TO BE DRIVEN LIKE A BEATEN MULE TO MAKE A LIVING DOING THIS, ESPECIALLY IN THE NEAR FUTURE BECAUSE OF THE RECESSION(TAKE A GANDER AT THE NEW MEMBER SIGN UP RATE AT ALL THESE FORUMS)

If you truly like it, and are good at being 100% on top of everything in your life, then do it, because you may have low living expenses and then it's not that big of a deal to pull in 30gs and survive.

BUT....IF you have debt obligations I would tell you to not do it, because there are just too many variables, I mean you could type an aff link off by one letter in a ppc campaign and tank your rent or car payment in an hour

It wouldn't be a case of not doing IM if you had debt obligations, it would be a case of not using PPC in your IM campaigns and using other methods such as article marketing/bum marketing etc.
