Interesting,
I took a big diet from most of the forums I'm at, made a few epic 'exit' threads, and a few 'belated hello' threads on the xx forums I was at, and recently took a real dive into the deep end of this place.
Tried my best to spice up the mood, the graphics, the icons, the learning curve, the filtering of n00bs to spammerz, and I haven't really had time to look back or gage growth/what's happening on the top level.
Finally had to assign a few mods and admins (yay - sign of growth). Finally started to see MANY faces popup here due to my lack of involvement at the plague infested forums I love to hate going to... (yay - another sign of growth).
Having a Niche Choppers Affiliate Marketing Forum Review written up today reminds me of... the bad things about growth - when it comes to forums and communities that is. Cheerleader Internet marketing forums can be a hit/miss and it's hard to see/filter the bung sometimes, I've watched many a forums come and go, and I've seen what I never wanted a couple to turn into - fully turn into and more... Blahw...
A good point was raised, can webmaster forums really not just be.... normal? Like nobody selling each other shit or scamming you for trix and tidbits of knowledge? Doesn't it SUCK ASS when places like Digital Point actually make you DEVIATE from your favorite sections and you actually find yourself reading the 'general chat' or 'religion' threads, and then you're like - "This is the crappiest marketing forum on the planet... ugh... I'm sorry to pick on DP - I have no choice though it frustrates the squeek out of me!! I like the shear size, I really like the mods/senior members (but FTW - DO something about your community and moderating it not just monetizing it!)...
Ahhh there is that word again - monetizing - seems to be a HOT one, along with conversions, ROI, ratios, and well... money baby! While this forum and community are supposed to be tight - and I WOULD NEVER go post ads everywhere 'just to recruit' - because to be honest, I would rather have 10 superaffiliates and webmasters here than 1000 n00bs anyday. Collectively this family is WAY more reputable and than the 1000's n00bs (is clickbank scam? how to make clickbanks adsense money plz pm me) that flood many others, and we're only at 500 members now (yay-more growth).
So - Do you think I have it in my heart to really get some viral spiral bs campaigns out there to attract 4500 members in a month? I could. I could buy that pretty easily actually... BUT - I won't. I don't want 'them', well I want everyone however the bouncers at this club enforce a strict dress code and behavior while inside. If I let a flood of 'them' here, my 'real family' and those who are truly goldmine contributors and members here would probably leave by now. I value my small and tight community way more than I could ever respect 10K spammers (wonder how some forum owners even sleep at night)...
bottom line - I am enjoying the growth of the forum, and moreso the fact that n00bs get converted quick into respectable, humorous, witty and intelligent contributors if they weren't already. Kids - seem to grow up fast here. Idiot - only had a few so far - banned or really smartened up fast.
Thanks family, it's cool to grow with you all, this place is growing into the best affiliate marketing forum aroundLoving to see so many of you making da mooniez. I'm thinking like 1yr down the road - we'll probably have xx more programs and... well who knows how many members. But I DO know that no matter how big this beast does get - I'll be sure to keep it DPBUNG FREE.
