This is a heads up for our upcoming launch / sale / event which begins on the 3rd of November.

What Is It?

We are Subliminal Messages - Over 200 Subliminal MP3s. Selling subliminal messages / subliminal audio / subliminal mp3s - a self help audio product, which in VERY simple terms could be described as similar to / an alternative to Hypnosis

We are an evergreen site, so it is not a “launch” as such, but we apply a lot of the “launch formula” to the event. All we are doing is a simple 1 week only sale, where all of our albums will be discounted at 50% off.

We will promote the sale heavily, through emailing our newsletter throughout the week (and therefore any new signups you send), and also we will have a big banner on the top of all of our pages which counts down the days left, and then hours left from the last 48 hours.

This is a proven formula. We did this same event back in June 2010 and achieved some quite fantastic results (here is our complete case study thread on the last event -from announcement to results) :

Gravity: Rising from 45-96 within the week (has now settled to around 55-60 level.)



Sales: We sold 20x more albums in this single week than any regular week previously. This was because of a mixture of mass amounts of new traffic, and increased coversion rate:

Conversion Rate: Rose throughout the week and peaked at 6.09%

How To Get Involved

If you are an established website with regular traffic then you can browse our articles, and choose articles which suit your niche, you can also adapt email marketing materials into your sites / blogs too. If you are new to us then now is the time to get involved. You can setup a simple landing page / website / blog right now. Then swipe all of our pre-spun articles, perhaps tweak them a little for your blog, or post them out to some Web2.0 sites like Squidoo, Weebly, Blogspot etc to get some back-links so you start getting traffic in time for the event. Or of course post them as a source of traffic to ArticlesBase, Go Articles, and other article websites so that you get a flood of traffic building up to and during the event.

It's all true TJ, and yes, I totally agree that list marketing is the most effective form of marketing by far at present time. I wouldn't setup a business without a list, and I would strongly recommend my friends and family to get a list as soon as possible.

This launch is really building momentum. Its only 12 days away now. On one hand everything is setup and ready, but there is still a lot of management, affiliate support, and writing for me to do, and already I am working 10+ hour days... I really know this is going to be huge - the biggest thing I've ever done by far....

I can totally vouch for Dan that what he speaks is the truth, he runs a very tight ship as you can from all the statistics/figures above and is somewhat of a perfectionist. I am at work at the moment and looking at how we develop it is very similar to Dan, very professional and very analytical.

Good luck Dan and great information regarding the email marketing/article marketing one thing I was a little worried about seeing is such a small average price per unit, looking at the sales and actual commission.

Could I ask what the average order value is?

Gross Sales minus refunds and chargebacks.
So 23,155k - 440 - 002 = approx 22.7k (seems to add up right?... accounting / math isn't my strong point, but this seems to be it...)

The average order value really changes from week to week - right now it seems right in the middle of what I've seen it so on average you will receive $17.91 per sale on average. I've seen it as high as $24, and as low as about $14 I think. Here is a live screenshot straight from Clickbank:

Yes, it is lower than some $50 products where you get 75%, but to fight my corner on this issue I will say that we do have 250+ products, I would estimate that 20% of buyers will make a second purchase, and that if people join our newsletter they will receive an offer for 30% off every week on some of our best selling albums, and this really drives sales - of course you will get fully credited for all upsells / repeat purchases / newsletter stimulated buys for the 60 day Clcikbank cookie life.

I am so excited about this launch and I am pulling out all the stops!

Thanks Dan, and trust me you are definitely passed the levels of Groupon, the reason they have too much statistics, figures, traffic too much everything to even look at all the data in the focus they need to!

That average order value seems fine to me, I would be looking at starting to promote this through list building and article marketing/SEO.

What's your recommendations on the most suitable, effective ways of marketing for an affiliate?

Willyboy: Such a broad question... any method will work, it really depends more on your experience and what you are skilled with. I would always recommend anyone to go down the list marketing route though. Simple seo, article marketing, and list building... probably the simplest way to get started.

We went live on Wednesday (3 days ago).

It was our biggest traffic day ever and close to our highest ever sales day in 3 years online (I am 100% confident that the last day of this event when there is massive urgency about the sale ending will be our biggest sales day ever).

Last Time:

Our Day 1, 2 and 3 converted around 1% - having 10s of 1000s of new visitors to us the conversion rate is lower than normal – people need to learn about us, try our free albums, and come back a few times before buying.

Over the course of the week our conversion rate rose to 6% on the last day (as the urgency of the sale ending really built)

This Time (so far – Days 1, 2 & 3):

Gravity: Over the last couple of days our gravity has risen from 54 to 110...

The last few days have been very frustrating actually, as with the updates and maintenance from Clickbank they still haven't been updating the Gravity into the full marketplace listings, so still now the only way to see the actual live gravity is through our vendor spotlight page:

I am 100% sure our gravity will rise further over the next few days and especially next Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th of November in the last couple of days when the sales really come in.

Sales: Again the conversion rate is around the 1% mark (0.98% on Day 1, 1.23% on Day 2, and 1.29% on Day 3. Again I have total confidence in this rising throughout the week as people receive our autoresponder and as the urgency of the prices rising again increases.

You can see that although overall conversion is pretty low, these emails to our own list converted pretty fantastically – this is because these people are warmed up to us and educated about subliminal audio now:


(we never overwrite cookies, so anyone signup into our newsletter who buys, you will be credited for the sale as usual)

You can obviously see in the image above that I have taken screenshots and snipped images of the 2 days together. I have also removed “sensitive” data such as total sales, and total revenue... I just don't like showing people the exactly how much money I am personally making basically..

But please be assured that the stats themselves have not been tempered with and are real... I would probably inflate the average order value if I was faking it, as $24 is respectable, but of course could be better

Here is a snapshot of some sales:



You can see from the times that they are pretty frequent and that sales volume is high (but again, they will be double / triple this in the last 2 days of this event)

I've tried to “blur” the affiliate IDs just enough so you can't tell exact IDs but can see they are to a wide range of different people.

Also highlighted are 2 BIG sales. The “product ID” 231 means it was a sale of 30x albums at once. This costs $224, and the amount of $56.57 is the 25% cut that I make, so the affiliate commission you would get on such a sale would be a massive $160+!!! Of course, this is best case scenario, and these sales are rare enough, but not impossible, but yes the AVERAGE order value varies, and is currently around $24.

Wow seems like a really interesting product. Even just looking at the testimonial videos tempts me to buy some myself haha. I am new to IM so I have no lists to promote to and done nothing related to this niche. I may create a new site and promote this product. Maybe even buy a few for myself lol. Mini sites going after a few different keywords, some product focused, some subliminal, some hypnosis keywords... article based, and aiming to do a little backlinking / seo definitely works... yes, use the articles we have as a base, but write your own too as everyone just copies and pastes the spun articles... use them a little, but more for backlinks to yourself too if you wish

The silent track works just like the others - the subliminal messages are at a higher sound frequency, so on any track you won't hear them. Essentially the silent track is the same as all the others, but just not merged with backing music... but, dude, get out of buyer mode, you're an affiliate now, be a diva and demand free stuff Seriously, don't buy - I'm not here to sell products to affiliates - PM me a few you would like to try and I'll get you the download links,

Our sale has just finished - it was an amazingly busy week, with a couple of server crashes and emergency re-boots, constantly chasing affiliates and partners to mail, and working into the small hours most nights.

I will get some proper screenshots sorted out later today or tomorrow, but Norb has just included me in the Choppers quarterly newsletter so I thought I better just put a quick conclusion onto this thread - but that's not all, also wrote up a few notes on key elements that made this successful in an "Insight" section below.

Gravity: Increased from 54 to 182.16 Very pleased with this

Sales: Well Norb said they quadrupled, but actually over the course of this week we actually brought in approx 15x our regular weekly sales figures!

Conversion Rate: Rose throughout the week, with the last day being the highest as urgency built. I am still waiting for analytics to fully update, but last day conversion was somewhere around 4.9%. Again, I am very happy with this as this is more than double our natural everyday conversion rate.

The Future: What I'm most excited about though is actually the next few months Last time we made approx 20x weeks sales in a single week, and ever after the launch our traffic and sales week after week was triple what it was before the launch - so if the same pattern happens this time too, then again I will be "very happy".

Insight

I feel like I should offer some advice in as Norb sold this as a bit of a case study, and yes it is, and I hope you can gain insight from the series of posts above this - in the promotional materials we offer, how we advise people to promote, and what changes we make to our website for this launch event.

However, here is a little more insight into key elements of this launch and why it was successful:

List Marketing: Is crucial. If you don't have a list you won't be able to drive your own subscribers, repeat buyers, potential customers to your offer, you won't be able to stack incentives, urgency, or build the hype needed. In over 3 years online list marketing is the single best, highest traffic generating, highest converting form of marketing I have ever done. It is my COMPLETE focus for now and for future projects.

I've said this over and over, but if youre not using email marketing then I honestly estimate you to be making less than 1/3 of what you could be if you were using email lists in the short term - over the LONG TERM as you grow your list and can JV with people then this is magnified massively, and the potential is unlimited... and I don't say that lightly, it is actually unlimited and will increase the size of your business dramatically, doubleing it, tripleing it even - overnight.

Without my email lists for sure I would be still struggling to make decent money.

JVs... It's ALL about Jvs: I shouldn't really say this to be honest, but in complete truth, at least for me... the money is not coming from smaller affiliates. Yes they do make good money themselves if they setup right and actually drive traffic, but in comparison to a JV Partner with a list a very rough comparison would be that a decent affiliate could make 10-20 sales a month, whereas in a launch type scenario an average JV partner can make 100+ sales a DAY, and the top JV partners... well, it's unbelievable.

but back to basics, none of this will not work without this element, and I know it is one that Norb is really fanatical about too:

Testing: Testing is the foundation of your business. I see it over and over - people announcing products saying "this is gonna be awesome, I put so much work into it".... it just makes me cry inside a little... that they put "so much work into it" butnever took that last step to test it.

DO IT! YOU WILL FAIL WITHOUT IT.

It is so nieve to think that you got it right first time, of course testing and further improvements will ALWAYS improve your conversion rate. Often this is the case of improving it from being a failing product, to converting well enough to attract and keep affiliates.

My initial testing was 3 months before announcing. I read the forums and lurked, saw what was needed. I tested and ran through over 800 sales, trying something else each week and gradually improved my conversion rate. I even did an entire test "launch" with just one JV partner to test that...

But I think it goes beyond "just testing" - I think you should develop an attitude of "continous improvement". Benchmarking yourself against the best in your niche, and the best generally. Aiming for top standards, features - graphics, affiliate materials, web design, website structure, seo, conversion optimising...

This should never really end... over the last year I've personally added more than 100 products into our site, added a full collection of product images for our site and for affiliate use, improved our newsletter and added offers into it constantly to make sure conversions stay strong weeks after people find us, added these email marketing materials for affiliates, added a complete range of videos for affiliates.

Now I am testing these on my own site, seeing where to put them, what they do with conversions, in the future I will be getting more made, and a really good one to put on the homepage, more banners, more articles for affiliates, a whole collection of "not seen before" widgets for affiliate use... it never ends if you seriously want a successful product...

To elaborate on this a little I would generally say that our Law of Attraction niche albums are a MASSIVE part of our business and many of these albums make up our top 20. Also core albums like confidence, motivation, and memory are good sellers, and get searched for. Also subliminal learning albums, study aids do well. As does our languages collection as a whole. Oh, and weight loss is a very big chunk too and we have several albums in the area of diet, exercise and weight loss. Finally the Dating type albums do well too.

Generally I would recommend setting up mini sites, or blogging about an area and writing about different related albums, going after different keywords relating to different albums in the same sort of "collection" as this adds a synergy effect.

First I want to say a big thank you to everyone who promoted and helped make this a success, and also to everyone here who has given feedback and advice along the way!

I've had a few days away, but gathered all stats now so here is a final update on this “launch” event.

Gravity: Increased from 54 to 182.16 I am very pleased with this. This ranks us 31st on the entire global Clickbank Marketplace in order of current gravity:



You can see it is our highest gravity ever. Yes it will likely it will fall somewhat over the next few weeks, as of course there were buyers during this week who took advantage of the cheaper prices and probably won't buy at our normal higher price.

However I am seeing a LOT of new affiliate activity so I would estimate we might float down (as oppose to a straight out drop) and level out naturally somewhere in the middle of where we are now and where we started from.

Sales: During this week we brought in approx 13x our regular weekly sales figures! I don't want to say how much $$$ exactly as I just don't feel comfortable flashing money pictures to strangers over the Internet, but there are some proof pictures of conversion rates instead below.

Conversion Rate: Rose throughout the week, with the last day being the highest as urgency built. The last day conversion rate was 4.79%. Halfway through the day the conversion rate was above 8%, but then we had a brand new affiliate jump on and send us a LOT of traffic, which is of course a good thing, but with so much brand new traffic (rather than people who had already tried our albums from affiliates who promoted us at the start of this week and who were warmed up to us a little more) it did bring the conversion rate down.



The Future:

Also we have some new exciting changes coming. We have already added our video testimonials onto our feedback page on our site and they are getting played a lot, but within the next couple of months we will have a main promotional video actually on our homepage which we hope will improve conversions and make us look more professional, as well as more affiliate banners, articles, and even some “widgets” for affiliate use, such as a fully functional search box widget for starters.

So far from being “too late”, well, you're not We are an evergreen site and we make sales all year naturally – with Thanksgiving and then Christmas buying periods around the corner we are set to make some very good sales over the next few months, and we are already pencilling in another event like this for March / April time 2011... so if you get started with us now your site will be ready to take advantage of the next launch
