Why am I not more successful

A question which lately pops into my mind everyday. I don't want to sound like a whiner its just something which is hard to fight. I mean I am skilled with photoshop, can build a site from nothing to complete in about an hour, have connections to article writers, linkbuilders and people like that and I am still not able to make a living out this! Do I suck or what is the barrier between myself and success?

It's slowly eating up my self-confidence and putting me back searching for a day job to get a regular income. I don't want to go this route but maybe it's something I have to go? How do you handle days like these where you think, what the hell I'm doing wrong and nothing seem to work for you...?

I know its not a success posting but the other side of the world does also exist ;-) Interested to hear your thoughs guys.

One cannot tell without really knowing the details...

BUT and its a big "butt" in IM... you got to be persistent and not give up.

Come to think of it, I would love to take your skills any day (I cannot understand Photoshop and I have a tough time creating media rich content like video) so if you want to part with them then toss them my way.

But if you can give more details like which area you need help with then do go ahead and please do. I can help with SEO and pretty much anything related to Wordpress if that's what you want.

You build an entire site in an hour!?!?...? Im sure you mean the structure and not the whole thing?... it takes me an hour to write one page... then I go back and tweak it later further... it took me and my business partner and some outsourced workers 9 months to make my current site - 9 months of development before launch and a LOT more work in the 4 months since then too...

I am not suprised that a site which is completely built in an hour isn't bringing you success.... I can't imagine any site which was fully built from nothing in an hour could be a success.... think of any successful / profitable website and I can guarantee you that months, and 100s of hours went into it...

I make 1 site a year... well, 2 big ones in 3 years actually (and also some smaller blogs and landing pages which were setup in much less, but just like yours, these don't do that much in comparison)...

Think bigger... aim for the stars and hit the moon - start a BIG project, an authority site, a niche DOMINATING site...

* This is just my opinion, and my method, and I know a lot of people make very successful businesses and lots of money with smaller focused sites than mine, but I still think that with these you still must aim high and think big, and still put in a lot of work to them..

Do you make minisites first to test the niche?

Or are you extremly serious when you say a big project ? like make a website that will rank 1 for maybe ''lose weight'' keyword (just a example) so a year of the project is the site and Seo?

Well I should really, and I would probably recommend doing a bit of a test... but to me it is a problem as I am so obsessive, my test would probably turn into the big project anyway...

Oh, and I think ranking for "lose weight" would take the backing of god himself probably, I aim big, but I guess not that big... sure it's possible... but my current idea of big is perhaps the level underneath this.. like probably no one would even consider subliminals a big niche, but if you dominate it then it is a totally viable big business... I do want to do other things in the future which are a lot bigger than subliminals on the surface though, I certainly think it is possible to enter bigger niches - hypnosis for example..

My view now is that it would take me a few months just to build a review blog up, so why not instead spend 6 months + on my next (big) project of developing another of my own products and getting into the marketing for it.. ... that just me though and I'm sure that if you think big in whatever area you are pursuing then whether it is developing products, making a lots of sites, making a big review blog, nailing landing page marketing... just don't set something up in a few hours and expect it to feed you..

I am speaking of sites like up to 15 pages and these can be done in one hour (of course the articles are ready). But in this hour I can tweak the theme and add the content. Of course it could take me more but the small sites are really done that fast.

Of course it would take me quite a lot if I would build an authority site and starting up with 50+ pages. But mostly I am in low competition niches and got my system up and running pretty fast

Firstly EVERYONE gets days like that no matter what you do!

Even if you have sites and products that are bringing in six figures you get your bad days and in fact have a lot more to keep an eye on so the stress can really mount up!

My advice suck it up and carry on - focus on the good points!

You say you are skilled with PS and can build sites easily, you say you know article writers etc.. you have all the tools you need.

What you NEED to do is form a plan of attack - no war on the battlefield is won without a plan!

Be your own Field Marshall - use the skills you have and test out niches and then move on to building your own products and always be moving forward.

Stop TRYING so hard - relax enjoy and view every little bit of success as a step up.

The key is keep on moving forward - keep what works, ditch what doesn't and ask here if you get stuck.

So pick a direction and go for it!!!

Forgot to add - with your skills and how quickly you can build a site and add content - pick a niche build one of your sites and add content - good content - stick a few clickbank products on there or other affiliate offers then go to Flippa.com and sell the site if you don't want to promote!

An easy $200 - $400+ right there...

Some nice replys here, also i find im pretty good with SEO, and when im not SEO'in my own sites i offer my service to others, this helps alot with paying for hosting,tools,domains. and its a extra bit of beer money, im not sure if you can make ecommerce sites, but ring up some local companys and offer them a discounted rate!
