Hi All - ok - so not so much a trick as often it goes unchecked -

Log into your Dashboard >> scroll down to Settings >> Writing -

Look down at the bottom of the page for Update Services

I use MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer, but anyway it's the same thing...

Is that a "proven" list, or just a random collection of ping services? I've got a list myself, but it's only a few ping sites.

Yep there's a thread about this somewhere on NC, but I think it got buried because of no activity.
Anyways believe me when I say even if you ping your new posts to 10,000 ping servers it won't mean a thing traffic OR seo wise. Based on experience.

yeah it just helps get new posts indexed quicker thats all
