That is GOOD news for me... I am rooting for the Dutch team. Beckham has been over rated for quite a few years now and did not perform to well the last time he was in the world cup. It's possibly a good thing for the UK team as there is now some room for someone who will perform and is not a member of the team based on his popularity only.
I'm with Narres on this one. I too believe that this is a good thing for the UK team.

The main person on the right wing was going to be Aaron Lennon (think hes injured). Beckham would have been in the team for backup and match-winning potential. He isn't as quick as he used to be, but he is still one of the best passers of the ball in the game from the wing... always a threat.
Shaun Wright-Phillips may have taken pole position now on the right wing... as most others are injured, out of form, inconsistent or not favored by Capello.

Beckham is... and always will be... A STAR. No doubt in my mined he belongs some were on the same list as some of my old favorites like Johan Cruyff, Pele, Maradona, Franz Beckenbauer, Ronaldo, Bobby Charlton, Stanley Matthews, George Best, Giacinto Facchetti and many, many more depending on where you live and who your home team is. Just so you know my home team is PSV.
