I have been working in this niche for over 9 months now and for me the best way to promote this niche is via a simple story site(with Linus's secret link trick ) and some articles.

I'm afraid im no ppc expert but I have found that targeting other products in the niche with ads works well. heartburn no more for example.

Also conversions are much better when the traffic is put through a story page as apposed to direct linking.

Hi Bluffspot, the paging has been working very well, I have been working hard to try and get the number of visitors that go to page two to increase at the moment from my own traffic I am getting about 70% of visitors to page 2. from there a good number are going to page 3, this is again something I am trying to increase.

The initial reason I went for a paged sales page is that over the last few years people have got used to long sales copy and just scroll through it, and I have noticed on a previous site of mine that most people do indeed scroll between sections, this is not at all good as they only the get bits and pieces of information and often miss bits that would have made them want to buy.

buy paging the content people seem to read much more of the copy, leading to them hopfully wanting the product more than they otherwise would have.

I have indeed done split testing of the two mate, and the paged one did better.

I have since droping the long copy page made changes to the text on the paged version, and improved things more.

hello mate, well personaly im getting very good rates, orderform impressions at 1 in 3 and sales in as little as 1 in 6 not sure why50% or orderform impressions are not buying.. but I hope to find out!

My traffic is very well targeted through coupleof sitesIhave in the niche so all seo/article traffic.

When my connection improves ill get some screen shots up.

I have tried to give seo keyword ideas on the affiliate page, "acid reflux" and "heartburn" long tails seem to do well so if you are thinking of setting up a site I would go for one of them.

Yeah I was doing a bit of keyword research on it and there are some really spicy keywords that don't have a whole lot of competition.

I have a few things I'm pushing out right now, but I think by the end of the month I'll throw up a nice little review blog or something on a good domain to try this one out.

Seems to be something that people will surely buy.

Hi David - fn weird.......

I am a pretty healthy guy but at about 4am, typing away, sipping cold coffee, holy shiite. The fn pain was crazy - directly in the middle of my chest and also a small pain growing in the middle of my back -

lasted about 6 hours - I finally managed to fall asleep - I've had food poisoning before (dont eat from white-plate shacks in Oahu) - but this was almost as painful. I have never had heartburn before either and really didn't know what it was - def knew it wasn't a heart attack - but...

Ok - going through my notes to focus on a new niche for the coming year, yep yours is on the top 3 to promote, and wham - it cllicked.. so I am going to start promoting ealry next week.

Tip - no more cold coffee and starbucks pikes blend really does suck - I found out (the hard way) it also has a lot more acid in it... bastards...

Heartburn is a bitch mate. people that have not suffered just do not understand it. I think that the reason I have had success in the niche is that I have suffered and now I dnt. but I still remember how bad it can be!

Yeah David - hopefully it was a onetime thing. I have been reading up on it today to get ready for some article writing and this is some pretty bad stuff. I found some people have died from it, cancer is caused from it - esophagus' burned beyond use by the acid,

used to think heartburn was somewhat not as serious - this is pretty rough stuff -

Death and cancer are extreame cases but it does happen. Crazy really.

I was going to get in the heartburn niche but after checking out all of the keywords, I couldn't find one that looked like I could crack the top 3 spots in Google. I must have looked through hundreds of keywords with 1,000+ searches (my minimum) and they all had pretty hard competition that would take hundreds of backlinks to hit the top 3 spots. Now I'm not the best at researching competition so maybe you can find a keyword I can rank for in a week or so. I only do article marketing nowadays for backlinks since blog commenting is all but dead and forum/profile links don't do shit for long-term rankings.

The market is not awash with 1000+ daily searched keywords that are low in competition - If you do not like any of the above I will do some more research for you.

I will say that when I first got into heartburn as an affiliate I was targeting several lower searched lower comp keywords and my aff site set p over a year ago and not touched in well over 9 months gets me at least a sale a week. It used to generate more but as I dont touch it no I cant complain at that.

With regard to the forum profiles for backlinks, I have found they do work very well yes even now dont bother with the packages that are out there though, all the sites included in them get truly rapped and as such become worthless, I have a team that does my backlinking a big part of it is profiles links and it works awesomely

The problem with health related keywords is that you've got webmd, healthcentral, about.com, medicinenet, etc. always on the 1st page. It doesn't matter if the keyword has only 20 competing pages - outranking those massive authority sites is a lot of work. I setup a blog back in February with only 6,000 competing pages and it's in the health niche. My site currently sits on page 2 and I've given it about 50 backlinks... that site has left a bitter taste in my mouth for trying to tackle health niches. Maybe it just takes 9 months to rank high? I dunno but I feel like I'm wasting time when I build sites and they aren't even on the 1st page after a few months... I absolutely hate building links which is why I try to build sites that I can rank well with no backlinking. All this hype over spinning and nuking, profiles, etc. has really turned me off to backlinking. So if you have an easy strategy for building links, I'd love to know what to do.

Didn't take me long to rank first page for my keywords couple of months max.

I would if I was you go for keywords like:

heartburn home remedies - 16,300 all quotes comp - 487 searches a day. #1 rank can expact about 200 visits a day.
remedies for heartburn - 31,500 all quotes comp - 398 searches a day. #1 rank site expect about 167 visits a day.


I would get a domain like: www.myheartburnhomeremedies.com (avaliable by the way)

Keyword sniping the highest traffic keyword is a good idea, there is one other guy thats doing that on page one he ranks at 5th. there is an ezine article at 6th which says to me that we can rank for this terms without too much trouble.

Above our mate who is also keyword sniping there are site pages ranked rather than the site domains (if you get what I mean) this also tells me that we can rank.

A closer look at the competition:

in my competition research tool there are two sites keyword sniping our main keyword.

get 10 or so articles place two links in the bio and boom you have 20 backlinks.

Bookmark the site with, jumptags, mister-wong, folkd trying to find good PR keywords to list your site for is an idea here.

and you will then have loads more backlinks.

I would also get some from squidoo lenses - you have articles so just bastadise them into lenses and hubs. Dont stress about dup content.

and then boom we are on page 1 for keyword one.. not so hard hay?

this keyword has been sniped by Remedies For Heartburn - they site number one even though they only has 14 backlinks for the domain,

8 backlinks to the page - all PR0 interesting thing though.. the person running this appears to have a blog network

ALthough the pages that link directly to the site have no PR some of the sites Domain do have some PR and this will filter through the site, meaning the links have a little more juice.

Still I feel its possible to rank up near the top of page one with relative ease.

Do pretty much the same link building efforts as we did for the above keyword.

I would create a page on the site called "remedies for heartburn" and build links to that too, then do interal linking so that internal pages of your site point to the home page with the anchor text "remedies for heartburn".

I have covered two keywords only as its what I do when I first create a new site.

Can I ask what tool you use to research competition? The only thing I got right now is micro niche finder and I tend to stay away from anything above a 20. I should probably use other tools as well. Also what do you use to get the daily search numbers? I've been studying SEO for a few months now and I still feel like I know absolutely nothing :P

Yah for sure, it makes it waaay easier to promote stuff when the merchant is so helpful. Take Travis Sago for example - he sends out a PLR article for getting an ex back every single day to people that sign up for his affiliate link. I don't even try to promote that product, but I still find time to rewrite each article and submit 1 per day to EZA and I get a few sales every week just from that.

I'm trying to move on to building a good number of sites now. I have about 10 sites sitting on the 1st page of Google, but half of them were on such low traffic keywords due to me being a newb :P

I think my biggest problem right now is just sticking with a backlink strategy. There's just so much different types people are talking about and it's just got my head overloaded that I end up doing nothing.

I'm definitely willing to get in this niche. I just hesitate a lot because I'm bad at judging competition. Seems like you know what you're doing. I'd love to take a look at the site you have ranking well already to give me some ideas. I'll do 1 article per day until I have 10 or so written and then also submit them to a few other directories. Which leads me to ask: what are your favorite directories to submit to?

Ok cool, I'm still trying to figure the best way to build the homepage to get the least bounce rate possible. I've just been doing the story type of pre-sell but my bounce rate is averaging around 80% so obviously the story doesn't work as well as I thought it would. Do you tend to put your call-to-actions at the top of your story or at the bottom? I'll show you one of my story sites that aren't converting at all which boggles my mind.

Anyhow - great idea about cash payments but... I would do a net 90 payback.
An affiliate could order the product themselves then after 35 days... and you paid the bonus after 30 ( Terms: Prizes are paid out a month behind. )- go to CB and request an automatic refund. 60 days is a long guarantee. Unless I read it wrong.

I think some form of stipulation about the guarantee period being over for the order would suffice if you didnt want to scare them away with "Wait Net 90 Days to Get Paid" statement.
