Hi Folks,

Had to share this with you...

I have a Web-Site that sells Guitars, and a fair amount of web-sites now that have clickbank, amazon and adsense on them.

Our guitar site is now ranked in the Google top 20 for the words-- guitar shop -- and top five for terms like Fender Guitars etc. so gets decent traffic now.

The site is 6 years old, and is getting better all the time. Its really a crap old fashioned site, but its simple to navigate and always has unique content..and folk say they like it..took a long time to get the site to where it is now.

income wise.. yesterday was our best day online, and between the guitar site and other stuff, we ended up on £1376 for the day, for our overseas brethren thats about $2200!.

Seems like the moral to this is ...don't give up...However you do it just keep plugging away, and it will happen for you.

Just out of interest, was it drop shipping? Or do you hold the stock?

We hold the stock.. its the only way to make sure that things go smoothly, we only advertise stuff on the site that we actually have ready to send.

It is a pain sending stuff out, but its profitable!!,

and i don't have to do it myself anyway... so thats ok then!!

I think it pays to look at all ways to sell online mate.. not just digital products..

I have looked into selling physcial products but can never find a decent supplier for decent prices. Ill be pretty much selling it for a pennys profit which isnt worth the hassle.

I wanted to sell snowboarding gear because its what im interested in

When i started I bought a couple of magazines and looked at the big manufacturers or distributors adverts. and then i phoned them up and said that i had a shop... (i didn't) but wanted to sell their gear, and could they please send me their trade price lists, catalogues and trade terms. suprising how many will do that.

Some will ask for a letter heading etc. first but thats easy to do now with just about any computer, or Staples etc.

Now its easier to look up the big wholesalers on the net and call them on the phone. Don't email, its too easy to ignore.

also i dont exactly have the money to go buying crap loads of snowboarding gear to sell online. A decent online store would like require 100+ different type of snowboard atleast. Ranging from like £150 upto £500 per board.

Congradulations Keith , Stewmath I did it with Taylor guitars...get on the phone with them and make them give it to you. Ask them what they want you to do then do it, if you can;t do it find someone who can. It's worth it.

Stew were you planning on selling items in the U.s Canada or Worldwide?

In Canada your going to have some issues due to the nature of the sports industry here. Locked up and protected by corporations.

no only UK mate. Would probably cost to much to ship boarding gear worldwide

uk service up to 12 kgs is £7.00 inc. vat. I can give you the name of the firm i use that contracts to DHL couriers. but at special rates for us small fry and next day delivery.
Spain for example up to 20 kgs is £29.00--different couriers but again super rates.
so not too dear mate.. go for it..

I've been thinking about getting in on some sort of sales with guitars, too. I've been a guitar player for about 8 years now (I'm 21) and I know what customers would be looking for.

But I don't have a clue about selling physical products online.

$2200 profit in one day sure is a nice load of cash, though. Congrats.
