PPC Success 3 weeks in

Just 3 weeks into internet marketing, I can finally say I am actually making money! I started in the water4gas niche as my very first campaign. My best days were 2 sales for $88 total. But I would also go days at a time without sales and be spending $30+ a day on adspend. So overall I made about $600 in sales in that niche, and spent about $800 lol. I was not too concerned because I had this money for this specific reason, to test and learn from trial and error.

Well have I ever learned, and quick.

• The day I switch to a new niche, boom I get my first sale and then another.
  My first $100 day just like that on just a few bucks adspend.
  
• The next day (july 4th holidy) I got nothing but I didnt change anything I left it.
  
• The next day, After about $18 adspend, I make 1 sale so still in profit.
  
• Sunday comes around, another 2 sales.

Now Monday, again 2 sales and I still have lots of time to break my record $120 day. However, I did get 1 refund today

Overall this is the most excited I have been since entering internet marketing just 3 weeks ago. My goal for this pay period was to break $1000 and atleast $500 of that pure profit, I am well on my way. Cross your fingers for me that these consistant sales keep up.

Good luck... I started Adwords I think around the 8th june - so just 7-10 days before you did.

I did get a $50 credit voucher via google analytics, but that was mainly used upby my experimenting and I don't count that as my own cash. In total, I have spent around $150 in adwords and have $494 in sales - a decent ROI for a complete novice in adwords.

What I do need to look at is complementing PPC campaigns with more articles and looking at picking up some 'free sales' which should help increase income further. There are many new and inexperienced marketers on this forum... but Josh G has proved you don't necessarily need experience to succeed... you just need to carry out the work.

Naturally, we will all make mistakes - and as many of us are relatively new, sharing mistakes on this forum can help prevent the rest of us from making the same mistakes.

In my case with adwords, I was meaning to select 1 country from a region... and selected the whole bundle of countries that just happened to include china... within 30 mins I had spent almost $20 with only about 1 hop per 5 visitors (my lowest ever ratio - it is normally about 80%+ of people who reach my landing page go forward to the merchant page).

I quickly realised my mistake and shut off that whole bundle of countries... the money hadn't shown up on adwords, but I had noticed an increase in visitors on my server logs who had arrived through adwords. If I had left it until adwords updated, I could have had my daily budget spent on non-converting traffic.

I guess the advice is to check your server logs as well when you make changes to adword campaigns... if you feel there are too many adwords referrals, evaluate the changes you made or pause the campaign before costs soar out of control.

The main thing with starting out in PPC is likely to set a sensible daily budget, limit the number of countries you are targeting and grouping each keyword tightly while providing at least 2 ad variations for each keyword ad group.

After that, it is a case of monitoring it and stopping ad groups if they are not looking like they are converting (it is hard to tell as we aren't able to put tracking on the checkout page etc).
