Teh Moniez baby! Makin teh Moniez With CPA via SEO

For the past year I've made my keep with CPA using PPC to drive traffic. In the past few months though, Google has been quite the booger with CPA offers. It seems that I can't go 2 weeks without getting manually reviewed and slapped. I'm pretty sure that it's not my landing page, but that it's because I'm running CPA offers. I've put together some top notch sites full of original, quality content. However, Google still is killing my campaigns.

Thus, I've started my journey into making money with CPA via Web 2.0 marketing and SEM. So far, it hasn't been all that great. I think my marketing efforts have netted me a staggering $10 or so over the last week. But, 1 week in SEM doesn't really mean much.

I'm seriously debating starting a journal on this to keep me accountable. On the other hand, I don't really know how hard I'll be able to push this effort with everything else I have on my plate right now. I'm already working on a half dozen other sites at the moment and I'm not sure if adding another into the mix is a smart move.

I guess my reason for starting this thread is two-fold. First, I want to see if anyone here has had any success with CPA from organic traffic. Second, I want to see if anyone would be willing to do a "group case study" on this with me. Meaning, I'll bare all in this journal - the website, the keywords, the exact marketing methods, etc. However, this won't be something that you just come and read. I'll be looking for extensive feedback on this. I'll be looking for ideas on keywords and marketing methods. The more people that would participate in this group case study, the more we all stand to learn.

Hell, if this works I'll split the profits with everyone that participates.

I vote for a brainstorming mastermind thread.

Everyone coming together with ideas and methods for how to make money with CPA through organic search... then we can all develop into into some monster super duper system.

Eh, why not. I make my CPA companies clap every time I walk into a room. As long as someone gets on MSN and tells me to get on. I forget things.

PS - And to prove my point, I'm at $138 from one CPA company at 10 in the morning. Just in case you need a skill level to get in here.

That's enough feedback for me. Let's do this.

I tend to start this process with picking out an offer. I just got the top performing offers on Neverblue a couple of days ago. Here's the top performing offers for search (Non-content network PPC traffic):

If I don't already have an established site in this niche, then I usually just go with the offer that has the highest EPC. The top EPC is the Premium Acai Burn, but I feel a little scammy promoting these offers that have re-bills hidden in the fine print. Plus, these usually don't last very long. Since we're promoting this with organic traffic, we need an offer that isn't going to disappear on us overnight.

Based on that, my vote is for the Quality Health Diabetes Meal Planner (Quality Health has been around for awhile) or the Grocery Gift Card zip submit due to it's high conversion rate.

None of the top performing campaigns for organic traffic jump out at me, but here they are if you're interested:

    What are your thoughts?

    The webs sucks. Forget 'em.

I'll vote for the meal planner as well. I can see it happening.

hmm, now this is something.... Re: Makin teh Moniez With CPA via SEO

I guess the diabetes is ok. Long tails and weight loss is probably the best long term plan, you just swap links if any offer ever disappears, and there is obviously tons of volume.

I'll give this another 12 hours or so for people to give their thoughts on the offer to promote. Once that's settled we'll grab a domain and get the site started.

Waller you are a true testament to what this place is supposed to be in my eyes. Truly applaud your efforts mate, for all those that are scared or unsure of themselves in this game of marketing - you should JUMP at this opportunity to learn along side a few pro's that won't guarantee money but will guarantee that you learn something - perhaps quite valuable and lucrative - GET ON BOARD!

Perhaps give this another day to get the late comers and maximize collective input before you start mate.

Cheers and best of luck with this I'll be keeping an eye on it as well.

@Waller - Good stuff m8... this will indeed be an interesting collective-type project.

As far as offers go... I really wouldn't go for that Diabetes offer.. it could be gone tomorrow easily. Instead I am going to agree with along the lines of what Lucid was saying...

Weight loss offers will be there forever and swapping links is easy as pie. Even if you don't go weight loss I would go with a high volume vertical.

Final note: as far as a brainstorming session lets get a time and date set up.. possibly Sat night or Sunday?

Will do. I'll kick the pace down a notch and go through the process slower to give people plenty of time to contribute.

So far we have a couple of votes for the diabetes meal plan and a couple of votes for a weight loss offer.

Personally, I have two things against the majority of CPA weight loss offers:

    1) I have a rule of "If I wouldn't sell it to my mother, then I won't promote the product." I just can't feel good at the end of the day knowing that people are getting billed $69.99 for a "free" trial offer just because they didn't read the fine print.

    2) All of these Colon Cleanse and diet pill offers are getting a lot of bad publicity right now. I really don't see them doing that well in the future.

Waller, I will follow your future career with considerable interest.

Also, why not promote more cosmetics related offers?. That way you could easily capitalize on sudden trend surges especially those involving celebrities, something along the lines of "do you want skin like xxx? click here for a free trial!", this could be done with weight loss too but beauty companies I suppose pay more.

My vote is for the diabetes offer, if it will be really gone in a few days we'll switch it to another one. It's easier to crack than the weight loss IMO.

I do vote Diabetes over weight loss, but one ickle problem I see if that the action form is pretty huge, and there's a lot of data wanted before you convert.

HOWEVER.. The newsletter did show a good conversion rate, so I guess it's just a matter of testing it out.

The good thing about the $250 Zip cards, is they convert extremely high, due to the fact it's just a Zip.. But it would be interesting to try and market $250 gift cards with articles etc, I don't know about you guys, but I don't think I've read one before!

The zip offers actually work well with article marketing. I thought about doing that offer, but I already have a site that is promoting it. I thought this would be more beneficial to everyone if I started a site from scratch rather than promoting an existing site.

The diabetes landing page is here if you'd like to take a look.

It is a long form, but the payout is $4.50. From what I've seen, that's a reasonable payout for an offer that requires this much information. Regardless, they show that the offer is converting at 15%-40%. I can make it convert, it just needs a bit more of a pre-sell than a zip submit would.

how would you presell such a simple offer like a zip or email submit?

i guess you wont need to write alot because its not like your trying to sell them a product.

You can pre-sell anything. Pre-selling is just about telling someone how great and offer is and how much they need it. With this type of thing, you may not be selling a product, but you still have to convince them to click through to the offer page and give up some type of information (zip, e-mail, home address, etc.)

but with the zip / email submit offers, there not actually guarenteed the product. They have to complete loads of other crap and then they get entered into a competition or something.

in my presell i cant really say wow just enter your email and get a free $500 giftcard etc. theres nothing else i can think off to put.

I'm all for a brainstorming session in the chat room. However, there's some pretty serious time differences between all of us in here. My suggestion would be something like 9PM GMT Sunday. That would be early afternoon for us in the States.

Pre-selling isn't about telling all the negative points on the offer. What if on all of BMW's commercials they said "This is a great car, but at xx number of miles the transmission's gonna blow!" Think of pre-selling as reassuring the visitor that they are making the right choice in entering their e-mail on the next page.

If you're confused on this, then hang around and take a read through some of the content once it's live.

For those outside of the US, just go through a US proxy.

On a side note: Once this site is running, we may want to look at some offers that are available outside of the US that we can redirect international visitors to.

It looks like the diabetes offer has gotten the most votes, so we'll run with that.

Next step is a bit of keyword research for the domain name.

Alright - I've done a bit of preliminary keyword research on our topic. I found a pretty good "main keyword" for our site - "Diabetic Menu." The Adwords Keyword tool shows an average of 5,400 exact match searches each month. The top listings are PR 0-4. One of the sites is less than 1 year old. Also, an Ezine article is sitting in position 6. Few of the top 20 listings are optimizing for this key phrase. All this tells me that within a few months I expect we can rank in the top 3 for the keyphrase.

I've purchased the domain The Diabetic Menu and set-up wordpress on it.

Next step is a theme. I'd love it if someone knows of some great SEO optimized themes that we could try out.

    Excellent. Not sure about how optimised this theme is but one I use on my old diabetic blog is this;

Diabetic Recipes | Diabetic Food | Recipes for Diabetics | diabetes symptoms

I am not sure how optimised it is though as I know very little about design and coding yet a lot about SEO ^^

I have just checked the ranking of my diabetes site and I am looking forward to this guide as it may show me how to make the moniez for that site.

Do you need a fancy looking theme or a simple one? I have a good amount of both. AFAIK in terms of SEO all themes are almost the same. I'm more concerned about usability - if the user is able to extremely easily navigate and exit from all the pages to the offer.
So just pick a design I'll redo its coding if necessary.

I'm thinking that the theme should be fairly simple. I have a theme that is similar to the one used on this dog training site that I thought about using: Training Dogs - Information | Free Dog Training Secrets

I'm thinking the site should look more like a static site than a blog. Something very clean.

I'm buying the Thesis theme very soon so I'll start using that on all my sites probably, it's customizable to death.

But yeah there are a lot of good themes out there.

Alright - I've finished with some real basic keyword research for the pages on this site. For my research I used the free versions of Market Samurai and Traffic Travis. Here's the criteria that I used:

    Daily Searches > 10
    Allintitle < 200
    Top 4 results of SERPs:
    PR <=3
    Backlinks to Page <100

Some of the keywords don't match all of these criteria exactly, but they're close.

    Here's my keyword list:
    menu planner for diabetics
    diabetic menu planner
    gestational diabetes menu
    weekly diabetic menu
    free diabetic menu

Give me your feedback on these. I'd appreciate the input of those that are more experienced with SEO.

Quick update on this. I've written a few articles for this, but its going pretty slow. I'm not real great at writing for something that I'm not interested in.

Anyone want to make a quick $20?

The topics I need articles for are:
    The Diabetic Food Exchange
    Weekly Diabetic Menu
    Diabetic Menu Planner
    Menu Planner for Diabetics
