    G'day from Australia

Hello everyone, I'm a new Chopper member, fairly new to affiliate marketing and online computing, in fact this is my first forum. Just a bit about my background - I have always been involved in our family businesses which has been varied and successful. We owned a medium sized multi-franchise truck dealership where i started as an apprentice mechanic in 1983 and worked my way through to become Service Manager. We sold our interests and I started an agricultural contracting business and an aquaculture venture growing freshwater crayfish for the restaurant trade. Over time that was scaled down and worked part time in the building industry with home construction and maintenance. So I have a lot of varied business experience, but I am finding Aff' marketing a much steeper learning curve.

A couple of years ago I started selling a few things on Ebay, with very limited online computer knowledge!! and have done O.K,I have basically been self taught over the past couple of years. Then I came across an affiliate link on a supplier website and it grabbed my attention. I thought this was great, just refer someone to the site, get a sale, make a commission (no physical product) too easy. Anyhow a couple of years on, a tight budget and I've tried many ways to convert that thought into a profitable venture mmmm! not very successful I'm afraid. I tried a free turn-key review website with Adsense (very limited, the templates are poor & you can't alter much, no recipricol links), done a few PPC Adwords campaigns on clickbank products, first one had awesome CTR until google removed it due to copyright, whoops! and so on.

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, things were a bit slow and I thought I would have another crack at it, and came across GetReadyToPass.com, Great website and with my road transport background captured my attention. Love the save a life campaign. I have just put together an Adwords campaign with multiple ad groups with between 8 -20 relevant keys each but I'm having a lot of trouble getting an activation bid below $1.30, many at 6.5 & 13. According to google the ads & keys are high quality but GRTP site is not relevant. I went further and done a keyword density check on GRTP and set up an ad group with the 3 highest word count (Pass Road Test) Still no luck! and running out of ideas. Do I need my own landing page? Domain etc.

*Google response; Details of the quality score
Keyword Relevance Help - No problems found.
Landing Page Help -This page is not highly relevant.
Based on the relevance of the associated keyword and ad text, page content and page functionality.
*Google recommendation; What should I do?
Improve your landing page quality. The relevance of your keyword and ad text is high. However, your poor landing page quality is negatively impacting your overall Quality Score, minimum bid and ad performance.
    Try one of the following:

    * Make your landing page useful, honest and easy to navigate. Strive to create a happy and meaningful user experience. Learn more

    OR

    * Choose a more relevant landing page for your ad.

I am really fascinated by the affiliate marketing concept, and in particular PPC, but i need help! If anyone is converting on PPC or has any other suggestions I would appreciate any advice you could offer me.

Here are some of my attempts. Try not to bag me to much!

Welcome to the board. The team here has been quite busy with our dev. so participation here has been minimal - I truly applaud and admire your first thread, one of the most detailed and well put together thus far.

You seem to have a good grasp of both the concepts and the applications needed to convert/monetize. Feel free to read more threads here to wrap your head around the most common profitable scenarios - (in short=YES get a domain name(s), YES use landing pages and YES get backlinks like crazy on top of your PPC efforts).

Direct linking google is really tough now and they slap you silly for it so on top your own landing page, change the content and meta a bit, and match your keywords to it - if you can, go one step further and create a few sub-pages with keyword links/file-names.html/useful original content, this should bring your adspend down considerably (domain= $2.99 for .info or $10 for .com - worth every penny - I can host your landers for you once you are done changing/editing them). The GRTP product converts well with PPC however pre-selling is important as well, if you have a good knowledge base in this area than you should take the time to make some great content and creative pre-pitch articles/letters to stimulate the sale.

Hope this helps, feel free to PM me if you'd like personal attention.

    All my best, chop chop.
    Norb.

Thanks for your response Norb, started to implement your advice got a couple of domains PassRoadTestNow.com/.net/.info thought I would point a different domain to each of your landing page templates. I am not exactly sure how to set up the landing pages but a friend is giving me a hand next week. I intend to do this properly from the start and found a free site that gives you a 90 day road map course to set up and market your website over the first 90 day period with heaps of in depth PDF & video tutorials. I have found the info very useful thus far and will keep you informed of my progress.

    Thanks for you help!

P.S. How do I contact you to get personal attention, not sure what PM means?

    Cheers,

By you being here - you'll get special attention - anytime you get stuck or have questions, feel free to post a new thread, or PM me (private message)...

I'm glad you are taking in all the fundamentals, once you have them down pat - you should be able to convert the product line easily. **I will also add that you should start with 2 products to get a feel for multitasking and different markets/objectives with messaging etc. *The GRTP product is great, and perhaps to target another I feel you should go for the dance product or the fat rich pig product - both convert and pay well.

All my best to you, and yes please post some updates when you start your campaigns.
    Norb.
