Default Hi Guys ..And Gals, I'm another newbie! Great Forum, what a find!

I just want to say hi to everyone, i just joined tonight and i have had a brief look around and its an awesome place, its very easy to get absorbed into threads and so much to learn.

    My Name is Tony Hayes
I am from Scotland and currently in Lafayette, LA for another couple of weeks then back to Riga, Latvia which is a small country that got independence in 1991 from the former Soviet Union. Latvia has a small population of 2.5 million people, Riga is a beautiful & very friendly little city with a population of 800,000.
My wife Diana is from Riga we work together in our business.
We have been here in Lafayette for almost 3 months networking for our main business which was employment and staffing...needless to say that this has totally bombed due to the current economy and we need to diversify now.
Truthfully the reason i got back into Internet marketing was by accident.
In fact, i remember thinking about the whole Internet marketing scene a few days before i received an email that brought me into it again, and i was telling myself that i would do it if i could afford to hire someone to do it for me. My memories of my previous experience were of the constant barrage of emails and products i should buy and the money wasted, but i also had the belief that it does work if someone was able to really put their energy, head and heart into it and give the time and effort to understand and just to "get it".
Anyway, Roll forward a few days and i got an email from a job board! ...Yes, a job board sending me emails about a PPC product (i am not sure if i can name the products in the forum so i better not

Anyway, i read that email, they endorsed the authors of PPC product as they knew them personally and i went over there to read the free report, roll on a few days and i am signed up for the launch of PPC product
Something felt different this time though, i had a real desire to get back, i have a real strong urge to put a massive effort in to understanding this business.
That was 3 weeks ago, i have spent near 10-12 hours a day watching videos, reading loads of product sales letters and getting bombarded again with emails of the next great thing.
The problem for newbies and i guess for everyone is to keep focus, its too easy to get distracted and i don't know what the solution is for it. If i hadn't looked at the emails i would not be here so i have to be thankful for that
I haven't made any money yet, i haven't even started selling or any PPC yet...i am trying to learn the step by step systems and i now have this and another site which is membership which is enough for me now to learn and do things.
I have a blog almost ready tp publish, a review site for affiliate marketing almost ready to go and i have identified some other niche markets to research.

I hope to have something out by next week on PPC as an affiliate and i want to get the blog started and learn web 2 and video and article marketing...this is the big difference from the last time i tried IM think, its a lot easier to learn with video than reading.

Thanks for reading and if you got this far then please send a message through to me and say hello, don't be a stranger and i hope to meet many new friends on here as well as a few mentors to learn from too
    All the best!

    Tony

    Hi there and welcome!
I'm a newbie as well and feel your pain re: money wasted, etc - but I was like you, I figured if it worked for others who put in the time and effort to learn, it could work for me!

I'm heading off in the direction of article marketing to start off with (don't think PPC is for me quite yet - I'll get there though)...and you sound like you are well on the way to having something out there soon - great stuff!

Looking forward to sharing newbie questions, trials and tribulations with you.....Good Luck!!

    Welcome Tony!

The worst thing you can do is read too much and overanalyze. Stop reading, stop studying, and just try some actual promoting. There is so much to read and learn on IM, that if you get caught up in that, you will spend so much time learning, you will NEVER make any money.

The best thing you can do is to take action. Your first few attempts will fail, but you will learn more from each attempt than any book or theory could teach you. Each time you fail, learn why you failed, ask questions here, and you will be one step closer to profit.

    Welcome Tony.

Reading and learning is all fine, but do not try and do it all at once as there is so much information available on all aspects of affiliate marketing. It is better to learn and understand the basics and then just simply start testing out one strategy and aim to fully understand that strategy.

Once that strategy is profitable you can look where to outsource and reduce your time investment. After reducing your time investment you can look at doing other strategies - but still maintain or increase your income through outsourcing the grunt work for the original strategy.
