Extreme Newbie from Oz!

Hi everyone.....

I've just joined (last night before I went to sleep!) and have just spent the last hour or so of my morning having a quick look around the site - I like!

My story so far....
After I graduated from uni, I went immediately into full time work, after 4 years of that I went travelling for 18months - and learnt more doing that than I ever did working!
I returned to Australia at the end of 2006 and went (very reluctantly!) back into full time work, where I still am now...grinding away at 9 - 5 (no discredit to my colleagues - they are great fun!!!)

Why am I telling you all this? Well the bottom line is - the whole time I've been working full time for someone else, and earning mediocre $$$, I've daydreamed/fantasised about earning money MYSELF, and after much research and looking around, figured IM was the best way to do that.

BUT - after much research and 'advice' from the 'experts'; what I've learnt is minimal! I'm thoroughly confused about what little I have learnt, and I've spent some of my hard earned $$ and got barely anything back!! Grrr!! Annoying!

So....I'm really really pleased I've found this place, COS I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING!!!
But for now....can anyone suggest where I should start? I basically don't know much about anything!
I'd like to do something that requires minimal outlay from me (sorry - been burnt before!), so was thinking article marketing....? Never done it before so can anyone suggest how I go about it? Or even if it's a good idea?
Or i've also seen on this forum that I should start by reading the NoobieBible......help!

Any thoughts/tips about where to begin?

hi! another aussie here where are you located. im in melb.

welcome aboard. you should start by reading all the stickies in the various forums. article marketing + clickbank is a good way to start. check out everything that you can find from lemonarian. the kid knows what is going on.

choosing a niche to start with is one of the of the hardest (and most important) parts of affiliate marketing. i suggest you check out NicheJunky - Home or start with one of the NC products that interests you the most. if you are interested in something then its easier to churn out those articles.

Good to read your post.
I joined just a few days ago but have been trying to get into IM for a while. As Mill suggests - I'd say read everything he mentions, then pick a niche and get cranking. Realistically your first few campaigns may not be that profitable (if at all) but its essential education. Look at it as puttign savings in the bank that you're going to withdraw down the line.

I'm sure alot of people here can relate well to your situation, in a job that you like but thats not enough etc - stay positive, keep learning and you'll get there.

Article marketing is a great place to start, because you can generate some really targeted traffic for free if you pick your niche and keywords wisely. The first step is the market research, so you have to do some reading up on it and then get cracking!

Hey guys - thanks for responses!
I'm going to have my head down bum up over the next week absorbing everything I can from the noobie bible to all the article marketing info...looking forward to choosing a niche and diving in!

Lemonarian: thanks for the offer - I might just take that up! Yep feeling a little burnt out with my 'career' (blah!!)...but really looking forward to learning this stuff and having it pay off!
