Forex Boomerang First Sale + How I Did It!

I'm celebrating my 100th post with my longest post ever and divulging super top secret information (not really)!

Not 100% sure where this post is going so forgive me if I ramble a bit...

A few days ago I was talking to a friend on MSN Messenger, explaining to him what Bum Marketing was. Then I realised I had never gone completely bum, I've always had a domain for a lander and used my hosting. I was reading about Forex Boomerang, I think it was Ashley's post, and thought I'm going to do a little experiment. My first ever completely Bum campaign was born.

Linking Structure and Landing Page:

I decided on Squidoo for the landing page, mainly because the big G seems to have a Squidoo fetish. The actual Squidoo page is utter crap, I literally threw it together in about 15 mins and I'ts actually quite embarrassing as I'm usually a perfectionist. I finished it and thought wow that is a steaming pile of crap, but I left it be because it was just an experiment and cost me nothing. I used Tinyurl to cloak the affiliate links, which were the only outbound links on this page.

Next step, social bookmarking. How I loathe this completely, so much so I only use a few services. People might tell me to use a social bookmarking service. I don't like to have links going to my pages that fast, just a personal thing and not my style. I used Digg, Jumptags (I love this site) and a few others that I saw already ranking.

This brings me to my first tip, if you are looking to rank for a particular keyword see if any tag pages are already ranking and add your site to that service and use the same tag. Most sites add new sites to the top of the page = instant traffic.

With the bookmarking done, I went to bed and gave the landing page some time to get picked up by G. Was ranking when I got up, think it was #2 for Forex Boomerang and #1 for Forex Boomerang Review. However this was just because it was fresh content so I began work trying to get my landing page to stick.

So what I did was made a Wordpress blog, filled it with some crap, not much at all. Made one link back to my landing page and added my keywords to the tags. Then I pinged it, I was too lazy to bookmark this one (damn I hate bookmarking - did I mention that already?). Left everything for 24 hours or maybe less, landing page was still ranking after 24 hours, that's good, better not stop the back links.

Next day made a blogger blog, did the same thing, this sucker didn't rank at all. I won't use blogger again.

Next day made a hubpage did the same thing, this baby is still ranking.

Tip #2 I used commenthunt.com to search for dofollow blogs in the forex arena. DO NOT ABUSE THE DO FOLLOW BLOGS PLEASE ONLY MAKE RELEVANT HELPFUL COMMENTS. I'M TALKING TO YOU SPAMMING SCUM THAT SPAM MY BLOGS WITH GAY BOTS. I made a few comments on some blogs like 2-3.

Tip #3 Some of the posts you may comment on may be old, so once you have made your comment, ping it.

Tip #4: This one should have been earlier but I forgot to mention it. I kept updating my landing page, yes I know it looks bad, once a day. After each update, I pinged it.

Conclusion
So now we have all these backlinks, well a few measly ones, nothing spectacular. I'm currently ranked #4 for Forex Boomerang and #1 for Forex Boomerang Review. I am not touching anything now just to see how long it sticks for.

So now after 114 hops I got my first sale. I felt it should have been less, but my content was just so dodgy that I think it may have put some people off, BUT on the other hand it looks very unprofessional and may appeal to some people. I think I lost some sales due to using Squidoo as a landing page also. If you have a product keyworded domain people may think that you are the product owner etc....I dunno just theories.

I'll update this with anything else I forgot, this post is pretty dodgy as I have been out on the water for half the day and think the sun has sent me a bit crazy!!!

My Squidoo lens just got dropped, I wonder if it will come back? Some of my other stuff is still there though, and still getting hops

The experiment will be over soon I'm thinking, one more sale would have been nice .

First, great post, hadn't heard of commenthunt before, will be used in the near future!

Another 15 mins of work should have your lens re-indexed. Add the rss feed to feedage and feedest and make a blog post, it should be back within hours.
