I lived 24 years in Florida, experienced 5 hurricanes personally, roofs gone etc. and in such times I experienced how every neighbor helps the other human being next to them. Now I live in Colombia. For you who don't know, I'm a 61 year young German.

The last few days some regions were extremely hit with bad weather.

Flooding leaves 50,000 homeless in Colombia

BOGOTA, Colombia (CNN) — More than 50,000 residents of northern Colombia remained homeless Monday after the rain-swollen Magdalena River broke through dikes and flooded towns and surrounding areas.

In the town of Plato, the water flooded 4,000 homes and buildings, leaving 40,000 people homeless, Mayor Jose Rosales Cortina told El Tiempo newspaper. The floodwaters washed away 50 houses, he said.

No fatalities have been reported in this weekend’s flooding.

“Everything is collapsing — the economic system, the health system, public services,” Rosales Cortina said in an interview on CNN affiliate Caracol TV.

I am donating $1,000 this season of my income to buy clothing, some toys, and important staple foods like rice, etc. for these people who lost their homes just before Christmas.

I know every country has their own problems, and I do not ask to match, no way.
But every $10 or $20 buys a lot more cloth and food here then in the US or Europe.
For all of us, fortunate enough to have a roof over our heads, dry cloth to wear and food on the table for the holidays, should give a silent prayer.
