    Default Mikey's 48 hour niche directory project

    * Chose and research niche;
    * An on-topic and brandable domain;
    * A fully installed script with all features & settings set up;
    * A unique directory template (can be derived from existing templates but must be unique);
    * Has a decent category structure in place consisting of main topical categories branched off into several sub-sections;
    * At least 5 quality edited sites in each category;
    * At least 1 indexed Google page;

    I created this on Sunday night.

    The result? 46 hours later -

    Great Technology Resources

    Just proves what can be done with hard work.

    Atta boy! Looks great too.

    One tiny suggestion, create some line-height between the text lines - they seem a little tight.

    And even the directory turned PR1 in the first update with only a few DP backlinks

    Mikey, good stuff ...

    question though, what is the benefit of this to you? like, will you monetise it some way? or just doing it to help yourself (and others) with link building?

    i'm just curious

    Looks great, 1 note your RSS feed link is a little out of line.

    Did you use an open source script to set this up on?

    if so would you mind sharing?

    Cheers,

    Well done Mikey - when I was buying my hosting I bought it through an affiliate link on a very similar website to yours (in concept) that listed a massive number of hosting companies, a real simple couple of lines describing the 'benefits'. The clincher was a $50 off coupon.

    Site's got massive potential and can become HUGE : )

    Good luck!!

    Fruity Health Directory - Health Information - Healthy Recipes & Resources

    This is a more established niche directory of mine. Well indexed with many articles. That's why I don't give articles to ezine any more

    That health directory is an excellent site Mikey. I have an idea for a niche directory which would be a big winner might consider developing it now as you have motivated me to.

    Couple of questions though.

    Where do I get a template from for a directory like your fruit healthy directory?
    Secondly, how do I get through the first stage of the site being new?

    Willy, once you've set-up your site, I suggest you do two things:

    a) Research your niche and find authority sites (duh... :P)

    b) Go on the DP Announcements thread in Directories - and announce your new born! If you are niche specific you may only get a few links - unless it's in webmaster niche.

    @Willy -

    1 = I paid the same designer that I used for zorg-links.com when I owned it. A unique design is essential, all my major sites have them.

    2 = Like any other site. Keep adding content, building links etc.

    @topdds

    Not really. If you have some cash its quite simple. Or if you have even more cash you can pay a link builder.

    What sort of numbers are we talking about here? Not really sure the best place to buy links, do you use TNX?

    DP have a great link sales forum, as do many sites.

    Then there are sites like TNX although I don't like monthly fees.

    You can always contact bloggers directly or use a service like reviewme.com. Most blogs have a contact/advertise page.
