Default Netgear Wireless adapter not working!

Hey guys. hoping some of yous might be able to help me out here.

I've got a pretty poor laptop that i use when watching tv. it's not wireless enabled so i use one of the netgear wireless adapters. it's been working fine for a couple of months but all of a sudden it's stopped working.

the blue light doesn't flash anymore. the computer recognises it's been plugged in because it makes that sound when it knows somethings been stuck in the usb port but after that nothing.

usually the netgear software pops up automatically showing you your signal etc but nothing at all happens now.

is it beyond repair or is there something can be done to fix it? i know they only cost like £20 but it's more the hassle of having to go and buy another one.

    cheers folks.

Have you made any changes to your laptop recently? Updates, installs, new usb hardware, etc? Also, if you go to the device manager, is the wireless adapter recognized correctly by the OS?

Hard to say. Probably a driver problem though - or possibly the device is disabled.

Assuming this is a PC.... First try to system restore to a previous date.

Also .. Go to Run (Windows Key + R) and type services.msc

Make sure all your services starting with "Network" are started.

Just two easy to do things to see if its an easy fix.
