WoooOoT!! First CB Cheque En Route!

Hey guys, finally I have my first Clickbank cheque on its way for $519.76! Wondering if you guys could clear a couple fo things up though...

    1. In the "debits" collumn of the paycheck graph it has -$2.50, i take it this is just a processing fee or something?

    2. In the "allowance" collumn it had $58.50. What does that mean? I thought it might mean thats how much i have carried over or something but theres much more than that still in my account?

    3. In the "date sent" collumn it says 2008-10-29, which is a couple of days away. I'm in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. How long does it usually take for people to recieve their clickbank cheques in the UK after the sent date?

    cheers folks.

Clickbank withholds 10% for future returns. See here.

    Congratz on your first cheque...

    1. the $2.50 is a processing fee and will normally occur every payment period you qualify for a payout

    2. the allowance is roughly 10% of the total commission earned that is held for a set period (I think it was 6 pay periods when it was bi-weekly payout... so maybe 12 weeks in total before it is released if you had weekly payouts). This helps offset any potential refunds etc, but you will receive it when enough pay periods have elapsed.

    3. As it is a cheque, it shouldn't take too long really... my first CB cheque arrived the same day it was showing as paid in my account (the subsequent 2 cheques arrived a couple of days after the paid date showing in the account)... I then switched to direct transfer.

Hopefully plenty more cheques/direct payments will be finding their way to you regularly now

EDIT: DOH - looks like Wallerblog was just about to post his reply when I started writing mine :P

I received my first cheque a few days ago, even if it's not as much as yours ($149) but enough to keep me motivated

yeah thanks for all the replies and the nice comments folks.

so glad this place exists. touching on what Jimz said, i put a lot of my quick success down to all the helpful people on here who have helped me no end either directly or indirectly. this has also helped me learn about promoting other products on other networks and after being at azoogle for only a month i've got around $600 in my account there already!

i have a meeting at my local business gateway (UK thing, maybe even Scottish thing, not sure?) to register a proper business so i can keep everything in order more easily. (and to hand out the business cards to the young ladies up the town of course haha!)

they also help you with your business plan, registering your business, tax returns, book keeping cash flow etc and can sometimes even give you grants. Then i'm going to the banks to get a business account and hopefully a nice interest free overdraft so i have a bit working capital to explore PPC and a couple of other things.

very exciting times, even now i still procrastinate a bit but i think once i have a proper business registered and am no longer restricted with what i can do financially things could go crazy! Or i could end up having to put the degree to use to rescue me from crippling debt and a failed business... WHO DARES WINS!

There are various local small business places to help you get started - I started in ctober last year (official date I think was 6th October). My tax returns for the 2007-2008 tax year (ending 5th April 2008) are due in on 31st of this month.

One thing I do advise is keeping receipts... mayb get organized and keep some basic monthly records... and look at filing your first returns to coincide with tax years. In this case your first returns would be october-april (or whatever date you put as your first day).

The bank may well give you a business account - but don't expect any favors from them as far as overdrafts are concerned... you will likely require a basic account with most transactions being electronic (therefore you shouldn't be charged for most transactions... likely just cheque deposits). You would likely get 12months - 18 months free banking and then look at paying somewhere around £5.50 per month for the business account.

I am sure you will find out all the information from the various sources yourself (they normally give decent overviews of what to do)... but don't look at accepting an overdraft or any business credit without checking out when interest will be paid etc. Also, don't just use any credit unless you are sure you can always make minimum payments at the very least.

ah nice one. did you register as a company or as a sole trader? yeah if i can't secure a grant or get an overdraft with the bank i'll wait til i've built up a few quid before i dabble with the PPC.

Sole Trader... with a separate business account that receives my Adsense and Clickbank money into it directly. I then pay out Adwords costs from that... makes it easier to see which costs are business and which are personal (so will help make it easier to keep track for tax purposes).

I didn't register as a company as I couldn't at the time... the rules in place stated you needed a company secretary (and I couldn't act both as director and secretary). Although I think they changed them earlier this month (Oct8th or Oct10th is when new laws came into place so that one person could act as both secretary and director when forming a company). I can't remember exact details, but sole trader was the easier option to take as my main issue was just being able to have it setup legally and to help me keep a more detailed picture of business expenses and income etc.

Cheque arrived yesterday! Just banked the bad boy today and noticed the next one for $240 is on its way next week, one more and i'll be going for the direct transfers.

Do you just email Clickbank and ask them about this when your 3rd cheque has been paid?

The option should appear in your account after the 3rd cheque is issued... but if it doesn't you can contact them through the publisher & affiliate questions form.
