WoooOoT!! Not a success story, but a blot of word on not giving up!

Excerpted from ILiveInSuccess.com. From My Weekly Thursday post "Get Your Shit Together Thursdays"

This week, will be a way less controversial topic than last weeks installment of Get Your Shit Together Thursday. We will be focusing on persistence, and how it is best applied.

We all can agree that life is not easy, and it will never be. Life will not be fair, and there is no intention for it to be fair. Out of those who are successful at what they do in life, alot of them had a very high failure rate until they got to where they are today.

You ask me “They failed many times?” Absolutely!!! The problem is that in the public eye, the failures are not really mentioned or brought forth. A person’s future success is not going to thrive off of past failures, so why should they be mentioned???

Instead, for the most successful person that is out there, persistance is the key to overstepping the failures and looking to slightly change their pitch or methods of doing business. Believe it or not, it’s these constant reinventing and revising our methods to madness through learning from our failures, and getting back up to try again.

A very good handful of case studies of persistence I could recommend:

    1. Former Virginia governor Mark R. Warner, was a pioneer businessman well before his political career. Governor Warner happened to fail at a few different business ventures. At the discouragement of his family, Governor Warner, which had failed his first business at 6 weeks, his second business at 3 months, had on his third try to unturn a four leaf clover, in the form of Cellular Phone franchise licenses. With his obtained knowledge, Governor Warner invested in a cellular breakthrough, which eventually became NEXTEL. His adventures netted his in the neighborhood of $200 Million!

    2. Chris Gardner was an assistant to Doctors, and was a medical device salesperson for a San Franciscan based company named CMS. Chris Gardner had a stronger than thou will, being he went through abuse from both parents, and issues with family.

One day, Chris Gardner sees a shiny red Ferrari 308 QV while leaving the hospital after a sales call. Asks the guy how he got the Ferrari. The guy replies and says that he is a stockbroker. The rest is history. Persistence through the tough times, getting jailed for tax issues, kicked out of his house for non payment of rent, and just having that hungrier than heck desire to win really shows that someone can come out of the worst and be great!

Chris Gardner’s biopic is the Pursuit of Happyness, which Chris’ role is played by Will Smith. Will Smith did a stellar performance, and for those who need inspiration, WATCH IT!

Both Chris and Mark have proved to us, time and time again, that persistence pays off! No matter how many times you fuck up, there will be a time where everything pays off and you will be hopefully laughing at your current situation.

Kick ass and Keep your chin up!!!

    Remember: Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish!!!

    Great post, I completely agree.

It took me literally 12 months of hard work to perfect my page one method to get onto page one virtually without fail for given keywords.

I bought a lot of packages, wasted a lot of cash, got frustrated, got crap results, but keep persisting.

Then eventually turned the corner, and started ignoring the "guru's" advice and testing stuff for myself.

Slowly (damn it seemed so slow some times) the results got better and better until finally I figured out the good things that had to be done, and the bad things not to be done.

At that point I knew I was on a winner.

It would have been so easy to give up so many times but I refused.

I was earning a kick arse salary as a programmer ($150K/year) but quit that job to do this full time.

Got very close to the edge financially, and it would have been so easy to just take a programming job again, but I persisted and broke through!

My life partner (Louise) was not happy with me for a long time because we want from plenty of income when a programmer to zero while I was figuring all this stuff out, but now she realizes what has been achieved and how it's going to help so many people out there.

My friends could not understand and said I was mad to quit the job and do this, they just didn't understand (and secretly I think they were a little envious that I was "going for it").

Both they and Louise thought I was going through a mid life crisis!

So for anyone reading this, the rewards are there if know exactly what you want to achieve and are persistent.

    I say go for it!

And to hell with anyone saying you can't succeed!

    Cheers

    Inspiring post for sure.

I can attest to this as well. I'm not a success story yet, but I have the "hungrier than heck desire to win." My first few months in affiliate marketing was a whiz bang success. My second full month netted me north of $7k. The next month my main offer went kaput and my income dropped to pocket change. However, I've never given up. I'm slowly building my affiliate empire. I have a few profitable campaigns running that I am working to grow and duplicate.

This business isn't about know-how nearly as much as it is about determination and a never-quit attitude.

Awesome stories! I have to admit that my mood has been dampened with my everloss site not being indexed yet. Still, I am determined to figure this out and will not give up!

With campaigns, especially hot items, you really have to be competitive or you will end up losing the top spots and eventually that will impact your earnings dramatically.

A good point brought up by Uberaffiliate Paul Bourque on certain campaigns. Bourque states that no matter how good you did on some campaigns, especially with weight loss pills and potions, there happens to be a fad or trend period, and then everything drops, and then you move on to the next thing.

Another thing you necessarily need to put into your mental arsenal and "A" Game, is potential product cycles. If you happen to be a fan of Analog Synthesizers, such as a Moog or ARP synthesizer, this will be familiar. We will use what we call an Attack-Sustain-Decay-Release, or ADSR filter

With a products initial launch, through all of the hype and hoopla, if the campaign is properly set, SEO'd and such, the publisher will have a huge launch and attack the market, and within the first week or two, take a huge shot upwards in sales volume.

After this period of sales, then the sales volume will shortly decay, and go into a short period of sustainability. This could be anywhere from a month, to a year, depending on the niche.

After the sustainability period is over, then sales just die off, hence the release.

Having the notion, that sales are going to eventually fall off, and after riding the highs and shifting into the sustainability period, is when I would start thinking about pushing a new campaign to your rotation.

And for you plpdu, Have you actually taken any measures besides constructing the site, and doing links and articles? Let me suggest if you haven't done so, to place a wordpress blog on the site.

The great thing about a wordpress blog, is that having a blog on your landing pages domain (i.e. blog.everlosslandingpage.info) which you should link to your landing page, along with a privacy and Terms and conditions page (Which you could get from Norb) will make your page look way bigger than it actually is in the case for google or other search engines.

Also with a wordpress blog, you have a system, called XMLRPC. XMLRPC is a technology, which pings to news servers and some search engine servers. The great thing with this technology, is that it can help you get indexed on search engines way faster.

And if you write articles on that blog, that link back to your landing page, or even has a cloaked affiliate link, you could probably get well indexed, increased traffic, and you got a potential winner.

And I almost forgot, the wordpress system has plugins that could be used to enhance your exposure, such as the Digg-ez plugin, and Social bookmarker plugins.

Anything else I can help with? Let me know!!!

I don't necessarily agree with you TJHowell123. People want to believe that they will eventually succeed through perseverance if they keep on trying to do what ever it is they are attempting. NOT TRUE! Trying presents the opportunity success, but does not automatically mean that if they keep on trying with all their heart they will achive what you are trying. You can fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, and fail over again and NEVER succeed.

No matter how many times you fuck up, there will be a time where everything pays off and you will be hopefully laughing at your current situation.
See that is playing with probability. Some people can just be fuck ups from the day they are born; it happens.

Smitty, Some people can be born fuckups. That is their preference to fuck up. They probably do not have any level of hope to being with. Their mindset is not going to get them over the hump.

Although I do speak for some successful people, not all people are going to win at the game of life. Why? It is merely not just being at the right place and time, it is being at the right place and time with the mind, and then kick ass at what needs to be done.

With all of those in sync, there could be a certain level of success.

Please feel free to disagree with me, we all have a right to opinion here! I respect your take, but not similar as my take on the scheme of things.

To all those that are truly born fcuck ups:

Whether you believe that you can or cannot - you are correct.

    Some personal fcuk up stats:

    * 12+ CB products - about 50% fcuked up
    * Hundreds if not thousands of PPC ads - about 40% fcuked up
    * Clients I've had = 650+, how many owe me money = at least 33%, and at least 250K that's built up over xx years - now THAT'S fcuked up.
    * Relationships with women = xx. Ratio = 100% fail rate to date (or perhaps success rate, as I'm not bound by a ring or children yet - so let's reverse that - 100% success rate).
    * Businesses and bank accounts I've opened = xx. Over 50% fail rate
    * Days I've lived = 10995. success rate = 100% I'M STILL HEALTHY AND ALIVE

In fact - only about 10-20% of my attempts at any BIG money have gone in my favor by a big margin, and out of that only maybe half is truly long term profit.

You need to be a fcuk up in order to learn from your mistakes and or show others/learn from others mistakes, nothing wrong with it and it's true that success is nothing more than practicing tasks that make you successful, until they actually do.

Norb - what do you mean by products that have fcuked up? It depends on your success criteria, if you set your sights too high you are bound to fuck up. If you are more realistic you will fuck up less.

Until I received a response in my other thread about hosting multiple sites under one address/hosting service, the only thing I had done (until today) was set up the mini-site on a new domain name, spread some links around on various long standing sites that I've been apart of, submitted a sitemap, set up a blog on blogger.com, submitted my site to delicious, and I started work on a wordpress blog as well (using 3 plugins suggested elsewhere in these forums).

Today, I actually did something in the blog and submitted it to feedburner and planned out how to use my other sites, domains, and hosting service. Admitedly, my disappointment with not being listed was a result of my total inexperience with SEO. When the Google page said it would take some time to get indexed, I thought they meant hours as in 24 tops. I submitted my site and sitemap on Monday.

Tomorrow, I will be incorporating what you've suggested here into my current plans and have everything in place by the end of the day...and hopefully gain some ground.

Thank you very much for the direct response Tom!

Reminds me of the old 80/20 rule and it will apply to just about everything you can think of. Here are some examples:

    Out of 100%...
    • 20% of the people do 80% of all the work.
    • 20% of the things you try will have an 80% or more success ratio. (or vise versa)
    • 20% of customers provide 80% of your revenue
I've always lived by the idea of: Lead, Follow or get the Fcuk out of the way!
... and again, about 20% of us lead, and 80% of us follow... it's the ones that won't get the fcuk out of the way that fcuk's the shit up!
    Best,

    ...Kemo

    Kemo!

I absolutely give you kudos on that for bringing up the Pareto rule. 80-20 also happens to be my favorite lean/fat ratio for a perfect hamburger!

It could be quite possible, that one out of every 5 campaigns you create, one might be a major contributor to your income. Work on the ones that make you money, and leave the ones alone that make you minimal or no money.

    Peace out!

Tim, I can completely relate. I quit a cushy low-responsibility Government of Canada job to do this stuff. I took a buyout when the Feds were axing everyone, so I basically saved someone's job, but I got her buyout money. All my friends thought I was nuts.

That was in 1996. Among other things , which I won't get into, I bought a computer and got an Internet connection, and set out to teach myself Internet technology. I was hooked! But I was also naive, and if the truth be told, impatient and a sucker for every get rich quick program out there. I never added it up but I know I've spent lots, not to mention wasted tons of time, and then I went bankrupt back in 2000. Then my friends asked me when I was going to get a real job...sigh...

Undeterred, I kept at it, and eventually decided to just be Karen Blundell and build trust with my name. But it wasn't until 2 years ago that I finally got it, understanding how powerful and so much simpler SEO is, using WordPress blogs, because Google loves them so much. The other thing I did right was give stuff away for free but the free things I give away are perfect (templates and themes) because they link back to my site, so it's really viral, man! I'm so grateful, it worked!

So now I have 6 other domains that I own which are at various stages of development. I have big plans. And I won't give up until I've made a few million then I'm going to go hang out somewhere in southern Europe. Maybe meet some hot Italian loverboy ...
and drink really good red wine until I leave this earth...
