Epic Failure Attention US Bank account holders

    Hi all,

I just wanted to let you all know that apparently someone has obtained information on US Bank customers and is using it in a phishing scam. My wife received a phishing call yesterday where they asked for me personally as an account holder and would not leave a message when I wasn't home. They followed up this morning, but asked for John Smith when my wife answered again.

I spoke to US Bank about it this morning to report this and they confirmed that no marketing/customer service calls were made by US Bank to our house. They also gave me the address fraudhelp@usbank.com to report the problem and work with them on gathering information.

So far the calls to our house have been minimal, but a search on the internet reveals reports of some people being called up to 17 times in one day each day.

    Fraudulent #: 877-642-7156

Hope no one else runs into this, but I just wanted to get the word out there. Good luck!

I looove phishing, not kidding. I do it to get a free rapidshare account when my old one expires, but never have I directly attacked people on a personal level like going for their paypal or bank account. That is just low. Most of those types of serious phishers are located in the Middle East or somewhere in the range of Korea. They prey on ignorance so the best way to protect yourself against it is to be knowledgeable.

gee, Smitty, I don't think it is wise to admit something like that publicly. The Internet is all about building trust. A statement like that, even in jest, is enough for most people to be very wary of doing any business with you.
