NowTHIS is a WIN Kinitex Catches The Affiliate Of The Moment Spotlight...

I'm at it again! This time we take a deep end dive into the marketing mind of Kinitex. He may not be a millionaire guru just yet - but as the man looking at the stats to my products, he has a pretty darn good shot to be one in the future!

Enjoy the Gold:

Hey Kinitex, you da man cool guy! You just won the affiliate of the moment interview - Please tell us about yourself, your personal information like your name, where you are from, your bank account info and password along with a copy of your signature please.

Ya, uhh no... But here's a brief introduction into the life of me. Finished highschool well below my parents expectations in terms of grades. Went to college(they expected university) for e-commerce, and did very well in the first semester. Second semester came along, and it turned into doing 5-20 minute presentations every god damn class it seemed.

I hated public speaking so my grades, and my focus quickly dropped, and I found myself having to drop courses to avoid a failure. I eventually finished the semester barely passing, and decided I wasn't going to finish that program out.

I had no idea where I was going, so I went back to work for my dad's roofing company. Then the next school year came around and just to get my parents off my back, I went back to the same college for computer programming. Omg what a brutal mistake! Although I understood it, actually it was quite easy to me, I was bored out of my mind. I started skipping school, and driving the opposite direction to the casino to play poker. I ended up getting up to like $5,000 from gambling, then it all quickly crashed and I was -$3,000 in debt. (stay away from slot machines people!). So again I found myself completely lost with even more pressure from my parents. I spent that entire winter doing nothing but aggrevating my parents even more.

I found a new school I wanted to go to called the International Academy of Design and Technology for computer animation. Cost was $25,000 for a 48 week, 1 year program. They made it sound like you would be guaranteed a job at the end of it, not the case! I finished the program doing exceptionally well, but by the end of it, I was just burnt out on it. Computer animation requires so much time and effort for even the tiniest little projects. After school was done back in October 2007, I never even looked for a job in that field. I just went back to doing nothing, hoping the money would come to me.

December quickly came, and my xbox 360 died so my life really had no direction now lol. I had so much free time, that I researched how to fix it myself, and did so succesfully. I then turned this into a small little business where I bought broken systems off ebay, fixed them, then sold them locally. I even advertised on craigslist and kijiji about my repair service. Before I knew it, I was out of debt by march and my parents actually had something positive to talk to their friends about me. So ya, I was now 23 years old and finally out of debt, and felt a huge weight off my shoulders. It was a fresh start... Now to the interview!

How long have you been cracking away at affiliate marketing and marketing in general - and how did this all start for you?

Well, technically February 2008. However, I started in the porn industry basically just making movie and picture galleries and submitting them to huge TGP and MGP sites like al4a or thehun. Then a friend of mine kept telling me about his buddy that was doing affiliate marketing and making $300 a day, then the next week he tells me hes making $500 a day, then 2 weeks after that he had his first $1000 day...

The porn marketing wasn't working out as planned(too much free shit available online) so I started asking a little more detailed questions about his buddy. I eventually figured out he was marketing clickbank products, and so I made my first account back in the end of April 2008.

Cool - Looking back into your newbie days, what were 4 'AHA!!' moments for you - like your biggest best discoveries?

How important tracking is

How important diversity is

How powerful SEO can be

How powerful PPC can be

I see, are you a Bud light, Corona, Scotch? Or better put - what is your poison/potion?

Vodka and weed are my poison/potion.

What has been your biggest accomplishment since starting your journey?

I have two. My first $1,000 day and consistency!

We all know that affiliate marketing goes with its kinks and quirks and can be a winding road - what has been your worst moment and why?

I've had a few moments where the thought of giving up occured to me. Well maybe not giving up, but that dreadful thought of "oh shit if things don't turn around I might have to go look for a job!".

So let's see... Back when I first started, I jumped on the water4gas shit thinking I was going to be rich off it because of the gas prices. I knew it was competitive, but I seen the landing pages in the PPC game and knew I could do better. Well, I sure as hell didn't do better. I stuck with that stupid ass campaign for just over a month spending about $600 and making about $300.

I would go 5-6 days in a row with a sale or two which I thought was amazing. I was just barely breaking even but I figured since I was tracking everything, eventually I could tweak this campaign into a killer. NOPE! Didn't happen, what did happen is 5-6 days with no sales, and a bunch of refunds. The pressure was on from my parents to find a job, so thank god they didn't know how much I spent/lost. But you know what, I don't regret starting on the water4gas, because I learned a lot and very quickly. I took what I learned, and moved on to a new niche with instant success.

Another one was back in september after clickbank did their update horseshit. Just prior to Septemeber 9th, I had by far my highest week ever, and I thought things were really starting to look up for me. I was on a 15 day streak of atleast $50 a day and even hit my first $300 and $400 dollar days in the beginning of September. Then Sep 9th hit, and everything crashed. My tracking stopped working, I was lucky to get a sale in a day, I went 3 days with no sales, and had to stop all my ppc campaigns.

I felt sick to my stomach and my parents were once again on my ass about this saying it's not reliable, better start looking for a job. I convinced myself that it was all clickbanks fault, theres no way all my shit could go tits up like that over night. Well, in the meantime I was working my short and curlies off pumping new campaigns out, tweaking and expanding existing ones. Finally, about 10 days later things started picking back up, and before I knew it, I had my first $1000 day!

...continued...

If you were starting all over again - what would be the first 10 things you'd want to hear in point form to succeed and bypass the bullshit?

1. Picking your first product or niche is not as important as some may say. Just aslong as you know going in that it more than likely won't be successful for you, and that you may lose money and a lot of time on it. That's ok, use it as a stepping stone, and learning experience, then take what you learn, and move to a new niche.

2. If you truly want to have a successful campaign, research the niche. This made all the difference in the world for me.

3. Track your shit. What good is a sale if you have no clue where it came from?

4. Everyone says to just copy what works, I say find something unique that works. Hit markets at new angles.

5. Don't be so eager to reveal your earnings. My friends 'buddy' that was doing this before is now making less than me, and I was sort of bragging to him how much I was making. Then one week he just magically appeared in some of my markets, and my sales dropped slightly. Doh!

6. Perseverance! When sales slow down, work harder!

7. Set some goals. My dream goal was to work from home while making a healthy income. I am now living my dream!

8. Work fast! Pump those campaigns out quick, and worry about tweaking them later. No point spending a week on a landing page that may never convert a sale. Just throw it out there and see what happens.

9. Need some new ideas? Smoke a joint!

10. Prepare for sleepless nights!

Awesome - This might be sensitive but can you tell us about some of your better days/weeks/payperiods and what made them successful for you?

Ugh, I love telling people how much I am making, but am always fearful of the consequences. But, since I have my income spread over so many different campaigns and niches, good luck finding them all :P So you have probably read about my first $1,000 day already, it was actually $1,100 and something. Well that week, I hit just over $3000. Since then, I have been making over $2,000 a week PROFIT. Oh, and with the canadian dollar dropping, those direct deposits couldn't come any quicker!

If you could change three things in the affiliate marketing arena or name three things that are holding you back from success, what would they be?

For every bad aspect of affiliate marketing, there are 3 good things. The only thing that was holding me back in the beginning was money to spend on PPC, not an issue anymore.

If/when you get to your first million in the bank, what do you think is the first thing you'll do with it?

Funny story... So I started back in April right? Well prior to that I had been -$4,100 in debt on a credit line for about 2 years, and been in school so never was able to pay it off.

I had to live like a hermit essentially. It seems living like that for so long has changed my spending habits, where I am now reluctant to buy anything, knowing damn well I can afford it. But to answer the question, it has always been my dream to one day own a brand spanking new corvette, or porsche. I also want my own place in the country, with lots of land, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, ice rink in the backyard in the winter.

Then a sick ass house(doesn't have to be big) with a sick ass tv room with a 65" LCD 1080P big screen with ear drum blowing surround sound, and the comfiest chair man has ever made with a joint and a beer.

Nice, is there some people you'd like to shout out and say thanks to for enabling all this methodical and creative success you're going through?

My Dad for believing in me(my Mom kept telling me to go get a job at staples or something in the beginning lol)

My buddy that started this before me. Had I not heard about him, who knows where I would be right now.

The Forums and the people on them.

Norb for providing a high quality list of products to promote. If you can't make sales selling his shit, then you just flat out suck!

Uhh and I think thats it...

Your final words to the Choppers for inspiration:

We all have some form of pressure on us to make this work for us, whether it be parents, significant others, time, or money. Don't put yourself in a situation where if you don't get the ball rolling by such and such a date, its game over.

Just keep at it, keep working, keep plugging, stay determined, think about what it would be like to do this full-time waking up whenever you wanted, and the freedom... Take the shit comments from people you don't want to hear like "its not a real job, your not going to make anything, your wasting your time" and bottle that shit up, and drink it!

----------------------------------------------

This guy can type eh?! You should be able to see by the detailed thought process/writing that Kinitex thinks deep, and thus - pockets deep - his are.

Cheers,
N.

Well done

You really have to be confident in yourself and what you are doing to keep up with Affiliate marketing, when everyone around you say it's not consistent, it's not reliable, and other bullshit.

Great interview, if this ain't inspiring I don't know what is.

And this may sound like hogwash, but those years of you ploughing through things you didn't want to do and struggled through could kinda have been like paying your dues to karma in advance, and securing your future later...you already seem to make more than most college grad professionals anyways
I'm only saying this outta personal experience, I know what paying one's dues means.

Good stuff mate, can you enlighten us to how your earnings split between affiliate and publisher?

Must give that weed a go!

Good interview and for the majority of people starting out in IM, it will be money that holds them back initially for PPC. Naturally, it means that they need to put in more manual work and do more bum marketing/article marketing to aim to start picking up regular cheques.

When you start getting regular cheques you are able to start promoting and experimenting with PPC - and if you learn enough when you have a very limited budget, it should help you make a much better ROI when your budget increases.

Amen!

Of course now that I actually have a ROI! I'm getting familiar with the "conversion" tools @ the various PPC services.

OMG, hahahahah!

I was just at digitalpoint and saw that kinitex was banned. It's funny because it seems like anybody that actually makes money there is banned. I'll tell you what they got some messed system of hierarchy running DP.

Money for PPC is still the biggest thing holding me back....

Kinitex, awesome interview....

Where did you start learning PPC? Are there any resources that you can recommend me? Free ones of course... Would love to know where you are learning your stuff...

I can't wait to start PPC... But would love to learn all the ropes first...

Bum marketing is just too hard for me... Especially the writing tons of articles part... But don't get me wrong, I do have sales coming in...

Again... awesome interview... really an eye opener...
